doug118
there isn't much of a difference really. it all depends on what car it is for Quote 2001 Tahoe. newls1
there isn't much of a difference really. it all depends on what car it is for WRONG! There is a difference. Procharger, paxtons, novi's, Vortech, etc.... are all "BRACKET" add on blowers that spin using the drive belt. A whipple charger, and the "LIKE" are roots type blowers that u need to repleace your intake manifold, as you need a manifold that the blower can bolt to cause this type of blower adapts to the top of the intake manifold. Typically these types of blowers have the ability to create more "LOW END" torque for instant throttle response as apposed to the other type of blowers. Both really are good, but really depends what your looking for. I'll give examples: Do you watch drag racing? 9 times out of 10 you will see the pro's using "ROOTS" type blowers, something like a modified 671, 871, 1071, 1471 weiand blowers. My partner when I was drag racing ran a VERY modified 871 blower on his BB CHevy W/ 18LBS boost. IMO these ROOTS blowers are way more efficient. Turbo's on the other hand are really the way to go. NO PARASITIC ENGINE DRAG WHAT SO EVER! but can get way expensive on the top end models..... There is really a ton more I can say, but im going to end this here Edited May 4, 2010 by newls1 Quote I love my staffie So anti FACEBOOK it isn't even funny
sully
the vortec and other bracket style superchargers are easy bolt on intallation and like NEWLS1 stated the Roots style is more efficient but more labor intensive. If you want a bolt on power booster take a look into rear mounted turbo's, easy to install and fairly inexpensive plus it doesn't take power to make the power (ie the engine drag from the belt turning the supercharger) Edited May 4, 2010 by sully Quote 2003 Ford F-150 Reg Cab layin body on 26's 2003 Tahoe 3/5 drop on 26's with a 408cid Supercharged engine. 2011 Camaro 2SS 2005 VW GTI Stage II ECU, CAI, 3" turbo back exhaust, FMIC, lowered 2" on some plastidipped 18's 2003 Hayabusa lowered, stretched, cams, nitrous and custom paint
