infinity Posted May 9, 2010 Report Posted May 9, 2010 Hey everyone! Im new to this forum(as you can tell i have 0 posts =) ) and i already have a few questions. Im going to be getting a Audioque aq1200D amplifier. For the wiring, should i get 1/0 gauge wire or 4 gauge wire? And it says that it has 3x40 amp fuses (linked with 240) what does "linked with 240" mean? Also for the fuse holder in the wiring, should i get a 120amp fuse holder or a 240 amp fuse holder? THANKS! cvxsmitty58 Posted May 9, 2010 Report Posted May 9, 2010 4 ga. should be plenty......linked with 240 means you can run 2 of those together......a 120 amp fuse should be fine Quote

Linked means using 2 amps working together, nothing you need to be worried about with only 1 amp. As far as which wire you need, it depends on how far you're gonna run it. I'm sure someone can reply with the chart that shows how much amperage wire is capable of over certain distances. edit: 4 gauge would be fine for under 20 feet with 120ampers running through it.. if you're getting close to the 20 foot mark though, go ahead and jump up to 2g or 1/0 Edited May 9, 2010 by sanitarium Quote
C-Fizzy Posted May 9, 2010 Report Posted May 9, 2010 1/0 wire is always a good idea. Quote under construction I hate People with crappy primered cars rolling on hubcaps that are louder then me. u hate c-fizzy?
infinity Posted May 9, 2010 Author Report Posted May 9, 2010 WOW! Such fast reply's! Thanks for the help! now i understand 240amp linked! Also, is this amp good for a fi bl 15"? THANKS! Quote
tristan560 Posted May 9, 2010 Report Posted May 9, 2010 Go with 4g unless you plan on upgrading in the near future. Quote 99 Jimmy SLT 4WD Systemless. 99 Grand Prix GTP DC XL 12 on 1.5k tuned lowwwwww.
infinity Posted May 9, 2010 Author Report Posted May 9, 2010 thanks! i was hoping people said 4 gauge! Only because it's cheaper =) but i might get 1/0 gauge wire for upgrading the big 3 =) Quote
cqtama Posted May 9, 2010 Report Posted May 9, 2010 i would run 0. you would be fine weith 4 but the amp has 0 guage inputs so you may as well use them. overkill never hurt and youm ight want to upgrade later. this way you dont have to re-run the power wire if you get a bigger amp down the road Quote R.I.P '01 blazer you treated my ears well until your transmission blew up.
