Andrew2944r
No plywood, maybe you can get birch. Quote Team Ampere Audio
bigredishott
I have heard that birch is just as good as mdf but lighter! I would assume the mean birch plywood. Its like $50 a sheet though vs $30 but, maybe you will make up for it gas savings due to the weight! idk Quote Alpine CDA-9847 HU F Highs 2x Infinity Kappa 60.9CS Powered by Eclipse EA4200 Glass door panels R Highs Infinity Ref. 9622i powered by HU 3x RF Punch HX2 RFD2210 Powered by MTX Thunder 81000D Box Vol. 3.259 before displacement, Tuned 36.6, Port area 54"

loganberry
Birch is stronger and lighter than mdf which is why its more expensive...if they don't have that I guess you could use ply, just double it all up and glass the inside Quote My F-150 Build GET ON THE BANDWAGON what if they tried messing with the amps when the subs werent louder hahah jk

skittlesRgood
there is nothing wrong with plywood. it all depends on the quality that you get. if you get the super cheap crap, well ya, itll be a problem. you could get 1/2" apple ply and that would be stronger and much lighter than 3/4" birch or mdf but itll cost you about $100 a sheet. when looking at plywood, the more layers the better. mdf is used because of its density. it wont vibrate as much as a lighter wood. when people glass the inside of the box they just use the resin, no mat. the reason is because wood breaths and the resin seals all the little microscopic holes. its good to do on any box but it will change the sound a little. just like each type of wood will have its own sound. so its all up to you on the amount you want to spend on wood.
