Well, i was sitting around today and got a little bored, so i went ahead and polished a few of my 4hp motors.

what i did was-

taped off the gap, and the pole vent.

Took various grades sandpaper (i used 360,400,500,600,800,1000,1200,1500,2000,2500)

wiped the motor down with water

Wet sanded the front and back plates, wiping the motor down often.

start with the lowest grit, and work up

Then took metal polish (i used Mothers billet metal polish)

took a while (it took me about 3hrs per motor, but i work slow)

I think it turned out well! Here are some pics-

Before pics-

Top plate. Notice the oxidation, and general grime from years of use:(-

Back plate. Again- Same oxidation/grime

Only thing I'm going to do from here, i may take some rubbing compound, and try some final polishing, also looking for higher grit paper, to go even more...

So- what do you guys think?

im banned because im a jackass....WOOT
