AssKicker Posted June 19, 2010 Report Posted June 19, 2010 Hifonics are nothing more than glorified budget amps. Take it from me, an owner of a 1610. I really hate the fact that when you take a 1v dip you lose almost 300 watts when a SAZ 1500 (rated at ~12v) will keep putting out the power claimed. You've gotta be smart about this, you don't want an amp with inflated ratings at 14.4v, that is not practical, unless you plan on overhauling your electrical. Even if you do so, all you will achieve is the rated power of the amp, but if you would go ahead and buy quality equipment, you would get way more than rated. Here's my example of the SAZ 1500 vs Hifonics 1610 12.8v- (2v drop) Hifonics= 1600-320 (10% for every lost volt around 2 is lost here) = 1280 BEFORE efficiency is taken into consideration which might be around 80% giving you 1024 watts. deff not even close to rated. 12.8v sundown =1500 guaranteed x .8= 1200 seee already gaining extra watts. Now with a stout electrical the sundown will murder a hifonics, why do you think most of everyone vouches for them?

Ever banned by me while dropping a deuce. Feel privileged

OldsBoomer Posted June 21, 2010 Report Posted June 21, 2010 noob rage is noobish. they are overrated by like 300 watts for the bigger models its no big deal. they are built strong as fuck, if they werent, then how come my bx1605d is still running strong today? to the OP, if you have the electrical, go for the 2610d or something of the likes. damn right mine is too ran it at .25 ohms on a 18" BTL Suburban Coming Soon
