Four 1k Watt Amps Vs One 4k Watt Amp

Greetings. Here is my dilemma, I am in the process of going for more power and I have a decision to make. I need your input. The battle is between four JL audio 1000/1 amplifiers or one RF T40001BD. Both directions have their advantages, and I am having trouble choosing. So, anyone who is familiar with both amplifiers could give me their input, I would appreciate it. Also, I'm not saying that money is not an object, because it is, but I do not want to consider cost in this situation. If the better choice will cost more, so be it, I will save up more $. Thanks.

whats the advantage of using 4 of the JL amps? RF ALL THE WAY. (1) 4000 watt amp vs 4 all the way but i like teh RF so i say go for it.

I say go for the RF! I'm not sure if the JL amps are underated but we all know the RF will be. Plus, its easier to deal with one amp instead of four. Do you have space for 4 of those JL's?

well i love the RF but i am thinking even if it was 4 RF 1000 watt amps i would still say do 1 amp for the convienince factor....

The JL amps are fine but dont they do exactly 1000 no matter the ohm load? So thats exactly 4000 watts with the headache of 4 amps. They dont have the master/slave technology like the RF amps do so you get to play with your gains and check on them all the time to make sure they are perfect. One bigger amp of any brand would eliminate that....but the T4000 is DAMN near 5000 at 1 ohm. (i own 4750-4850 watt T4000's and ive seen 4900+ birthsheets by other owners)

its a no brainer for me.

I say go for one amp as well. I have had as many as 8 amps and I am currently runing 4 bigger ones and would like to get 2 big ass amps. Not only is it more convient but it's less waster power draw. No amp is 100% efficent so why waste more power then you have to?

not many cars can get me to pluggin my ears but this one.......damn. I mean the first minute is ok but that thing just really starts digging deeper and deeper in your earhole till you cant stand it no more. Seems like it does it with relative ease....16 12's on 8 amps.........gotta love it. :)

RF T40001BD all day long-- cheaper, better lookin, easier to install 1 amp, LESS WIRING, less wasted room, more room for more subs, less heat load on car, A/C works better, RF is proven themselves beyond a doubt, less weight in car, better gas mileage, and the list goes on..

I got banned for being an ignorant ass....and im a dickhole

Wow, I really appreciate the help. I think that the RF's are the way that I have been leaning. I cannot seem to find any actual specification in regard to the total harmonic distortion rating for the RF. Might anyone be able to give me a hint?

Sorry, I meant to answer this earlier. The biggest three reasons that I am considering the JL's are this:

1. I am not sure of the distortion rating on the RF, I know the JL's are clean enough.

2. The subsonic filter on the JL is absolutely amazing IMO.

3. The regulated power supply should give me full power at 10-14.5v. I will pay for that in efficiency, since I will need about 600 amps to play on theJL's constantly where I believe that 300-400 will supply the RF, but on the other side of that, if my voltage drops to 12v for a bit, I will not lose out on power during that time.

I had one amp refurbed and the test data sheet that came back with it showed it putting out 1290-1297 watts at impedances ranging from 1.5 to 4 ohm. So in all fairness, JL is underrated as well.

I don't mean for it to come across like I asked for opinions and then argued with them. That is far from my intentions here. I am about 90% sure on getting the RF's, I just need to know what kind of distortion rate they have.

Thanks again everyone.
