the reason is that im getting the new type r and the jbl 7001 from a guy real cheap. I also know someone that wants my old type r so it works out cheap for me as i am basically just paying for the amp.

I just wanted to know if the new type r is still good because its smaller. If it is then i may aswell get the new one.

The shallow Type R's arent even out yet.. Should be out in the next month or two. They are also known as the thin models and if im correct the model number is gona start with SWR-T12 and SWR-T10.

The new type R's (SWR-1243) that replaced last years models (SWR-1242) are definitly a big improvement from the SWR-1242. They'l take more power, play louder, cleaner and longer than the last years models. Oh yea the 1242's are like paper weight compared to the 1243's.

Now the shallow type R's SWR-T12 are truely gona be some bad ass subs. Those are gona handle 600 watts easy but the only catch is they're gona have small box specs for ported and sealed. Which are gona be way smaller than than the SWR-1243 box specs. Anyways the SWR-1243's are really bad ass subs and sometimes im kickin myself for sellin em when I had em. Wish I had the power to feed those monsters. Either way il pick the SWR-1243 over the 12' Kicker L7's all day. No slam to Kicker tho. They just can be had for a better price than the L7 12's. I know a local guy at a fleemarket near me thats sellin the new Type R's for 125 each! Thats a hell of a deal.
