Whats Louder? Many Low Power or Few High?

Maybe you'll make big numbers, but will it sound good ? I don't think so !

They are all the same brand no worries mostliky model aswell. But what is wrong with mixing subs? If they are differnt box and tuned and used for only certain Freqs

why do you see a need to do so? subwoofers can handle the frequencies...thats what they are meant to do...you dont need a 15 playing 25-35, a 12 playing 35-45, etc....pointless..thats what your making it sound like. nor does that situation really work...you would need a big crossover setup. ha.

just get the same size configuration. make sure you have the airspace. less subs with proper airspace > more subs without proper airspace. simple.

you can use a 8 or 10 for midbass...ive seen that...but you make it seem like what i described above.

one thing you might want to consider is total displacement... which is SD * Xmax... that gives you total air volume being moved...

You cant really compare alot of lower power subs to few higher power subs, but off of cone area.

more things come in to it like motor size/strength, excursion, and probably some others i can think of right now.

whenever i compare setups between going with a lot of lower power subs vs a few higher power subs i look at cone area and excursion. to get the total displacement comparison first. not just cone area.

also you dont wanna use 10 subs with 50 oz motors vs 4 subs with a 500 oz motor each...usually

Ya i See alot about what you guys are talking about for sizes now. Its not nessesarly bad just unnessesary. Ill try and redraw. I was going for the most subs with still proper box space thats why i mixed sizes.

Now i keep hearing you say air space. Air you talking about inside the box or outside? Cause i have no idea what you have to look at with air outside of the sub

I've done alot of fiberglass before. The only thing i'm looking at right now is kinda what to fiberglass ha. you know?

I don't wanna put in time and effort to find out i could have something better with less work you know?

airspace inside the box. for example.. a 18 fi btl needs 5-10 cubes ported

2000w RMS rated. can do more power if you know what your doing and have the electrical.

More is NOT always better. There's too many variables to the whole equation.
