it won't change much, only time you really see a big difference would be if you went from a dual core to quad but if you have the shit laying around you might as well take 5-20 minutes depending on your cooler and make the switch

5-20? it takes like 1-2.

well i assumed it would be shut down to start with. install time i never include shutdown and start up. cause as long the motherboard supports the cpu theres nothin else to install which meas you don't have to start it back up right then.

Well... I would think with the 600mhz difference, that you should be able to OC the 5300 at least that much more... but like someone else posted... unless you are doing something cpu intensive... you wouldn't notice much difference... Let us know when u swap out how it went and if you were able to OC it more than the 4400.

As others have said you more than likely won't notice any difference. If you don't OC this chip it might even be slower unless you are running everything sans CPU at stock speeds. The only way you would notice a difference would be if you ran a benchmark, rendered, or gamed (which you would prolly get a few extra frames).

5-20? it takes like 1-2.

If you want to rush and break stuff sure. Open the case, move wire out the way, remove the HSF & clean it (both the old grease and the dust bunnies), pop out the chip, open the new box, fight with the plastic, grease up the new CPU, pop it in, slap on the HSF, power on, and verify bios changes which is another reboot. That doesn't even include time to re-OC assuming he plans on it.

If at first you do not succeed, you are doing it wrong! -ARS
