Wire Gauge...

Lets say I have 10 feet of 12 gauge wire. I cut it in half, then use them like this:

Of course each wire would be 5 feet, but what would the gauge be? Is this safe?

gauge is thickness and only thickness. I can have 300' of 0g and cut it into 1' lengths, it's still 0g

EDIT: oops, read it wrong yet again. Somewhere around 9g.

EDIT EDIT: definitely safe if it isn't wired ghetto, yet not much point, it would probably cheaper to just get thicker wire.

Yea it probably is cheaper, but I have a 250 foot roll of red 12 gauge, and a 250 foot roll of white 12 gauge. I thought I could save money and do something that looks cool. but idk

If it's a sub-amp connection then you probably don't even need 2 of those.

In my mind it would still burn up if you're putting a big load on it.

You can take some 12g all the way up to 70a, but not past a foot. At 5ft you're looking at about 25a max. If you wanted to support let's say 250a you would need 12+ runs of 12g (DON'T DO IT, just an example) and again, if it's crap wire it will go up in flames.

It would be better to just sell the rolls off and get some 4g (100a-200a depending on length and brand). If you push wire too hard it will break down and your car can catch on fire. It's not worth the risk to save $10.
