School of hard knocks is where it's at And truthfully not trying to rain on anyones parade but the money that was to be made in car audio just isn't what it used to be... Unless you are out West or have a specialty niche that caters to higher end clientele. Now if your interested in electronics and computers goto school for five years and get an electrical engineering degree. Most electronics courses cover a small amount of audio technology or things related but nothing considered "Car Audio" as a major. There are trade schools you can go to though. I'm pretty set on Information technology right now, but i also enjoy working on cars and would love to be a certified car audio installer. Not sure if the guy that owns the only car audio shop around here went to school, but I'm sure it wouldn't hurt to ask him. One word of advice scoop up any coop or internship they offer. Employers give two shits about the degree unless you have experience. Automotive classes at the college im going to attend cover pretty much everything, Electrical, engine repair/maintenance, manual and automatic trans axle repair/maintenance all that good stuff.
