Youe HU probably puts out around 50 watts a channel. 50 watts can get an efficient sub moving. I know my stock system in my car can shake my rear view without any subwoofer, Just the stock 6x9s in the back!

no way... 50w per channel?! Most do about 15-20 rms / chan.

Probably more like 10-15 watts of full range goodness.

no a h/u doesn't do 50 w rms, it does 50 w per channel max, but in reality its doing 22 to 24 watts rms per channel

Tommy......a HU does NOT put put 50watts a channel. Maybe 20rms if our lucky but most are closer to 12rms

some of the older pioneer cdplayers and most new ones are setup to run subs off the rear channels, i think u bridge the rear channels to a 4ohm load and it gives u around 50rms or so to power like an 8 or something i unno

i ran 2 audiobahn 12's off a clarion cdplayer and it wanged like hell for just 10-15wrms comeing from it in a sealed box lol

hell i useto run subs off the old gm radios, would push the hell out of some 10's tho or did in my firebird when i was a kid

i would just be careful running subs off a deck for a long period of time but thats just me

and i think pioneer had a 60w deck that did like 26rms @4ohm per channel but with the built in processor i dont think u would run the speaker outputs anyways

now i only look at preamp voltage, i dont need speaker outputs anymore unless im running cheap coaxs in a small setup

i had a cheap jvc cdplayer and it was pritty good imo

Wasn't/isn't there a H/U with a built in amp, Like an actual amp? You had to run a power wire from it to the battery but it was built into the head unit. Maybe Im going crazy but I cant find a link for it anywhere on google. I know I have heard of something like this.

the older alpine cdplayers with the bass engine pro had to be ran with a 10guage amp kit due to current draw

its got a built in amp thats susposto do around 60rms but i dunno

from what i understand it has a built in v-drive 4ch amp

Yeah thats probably it, Didnt it put out like 100wrms? Was there anything similiar too it, I looked up the bass engine and this came up, thought it was funny.
