800rms mono block audiobahn amplifier (not sure, if it puts out true rms)

underpowering 2x 12" L7s @ 2ohm

4 gauge power/ground

i know many things can lead to overheating. but my gain is set to like.... 10 percent of full and if i turn my Headunit to round 50, its all fine and dandy but, the amp becomes a furnace. As far as my ground, i have it tight on a thick bolt on the side of the rear chair.

Again, to make it clear it doesnt turn off unless ive been cranking at around 40-44 for about 30 mins. then it decides to shut off. Tho this shouldnt be happening, id love a solution for the time being til i gets a job for a new amp =)))

Try a fan, Could be just too much on the amp, are you sure it is at 2ohms and not 0.5ohms

its an audiobahn, sorry to be a dick but thats why they went out of business, because their products for the most part are complete shit.

10% gain means nothing, you could be full out clipping your woofers at 10% or barely powering them. theres no way to know unless you own an oscilloscope.

its not nearly enough power for l7s and when you say 10 percent of full do you mean its at 90 percent of the way up or 10 percent of the way up? makes me think you have it cranked out.

when a sine wave has the top and bottom of the waves "chopped" off. someone on here had a great diagram explaining it but im gonna go to google *search search*

that flat spot means the woofer is not moving at all in that time period, causing excessive heat build up from the DC voltage coming out of the amplifier. (amps should only output pure AC, any form of DC is clipping/distortion) i tried my best to make that make sense cause i failz

perfect sense kranny, and i can confirm clipping now. I was listening to late nite tip, a song which i can resite almost religiously, and i know where the bass hits are and where the drops are. well there are a few times where its supposed drop to a lower hz and it doesnt hit that low.
