Gah, weighing in late I know but god damn, people who like Bose, Beats by Dre, I'm loosely assuming you've never heard anything good.

I was APPALLED by the Beats. They sounded so dead, lifeless, completely flat. I would rather listen to stock ipod earbuds. At least they're slightly dynamic.

'Good' headphones are things like AKG, Sennheiser, Grado, Shure... generally the uglier it is, the better it's going to sound.

Beats by Dre (made by Monster, need I say more?) are blingy shit, kinda like Skullcandy.

/rant.

exaggerate much

Sennheiser HD215

These are my headphones and for 150AUD and I've used them for about 3 years now and they are great. I've had many headphones over the years beforehand but these IMO are the best bang for the buck, and can take a beating as well. 8)

how are you gonna use them? for an mp3 or a home stereo? i would highly recommend the grado sr80i. i believe theyre around $100. the really nice, high quality headphones tend to really suck the juice out of your ipod and arent run to their full potential. but with a budget like yours you should really look at something nicer then the dre beatz. they're more fame then game.
