Rogers Posted August 12, 2010 Report Share Posted August 12, 2010 so there are not many things in this world that completely baffle me... besides women... but anyhow... for awhile ive notice a snapping sound comming from my engine bay when i start the car up... never saw anything so i just ignored it since it wasnt causing problems... so anyways i was on break at work and was doing a demo for a coworker... and when i started my car he said he saw a spark down there... so i looked and the crank pully sparks... it doesnt spark against anything... it just sparks on the side of the pulley... it just looks like a good static spark or something like when you accidently shock someone.. and it does it all around the pulley... im trying to upload a video of it now so i will post it when i get off work... but anyhow there is only one thing that i can think of that could possibly be related... and that would be my spark plug wires... they are old... but seem to be in good shape... but ive been thinking about replacing them... the car does run a little rough... not bad but a little... just sounds like its missing a tad... the first thing that came to my mind is bad engine ground... but i just did my big 3 a couple days ago... so that shouldn't be an issue at all... youtube is in read only mode for some reason... but the vid is titled video-2010-08-12-02-05-51.3gp you might check it out after bit once its back to normal... http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/79921-rogers-700-dream-car-update-page-17-a-wall/?p=2335774 93 Saturn SC2My system4 SA-15's Walled 2 Cerwin-Vega S2000's 3 Kinetik Hc2000's Dual 200amp alts. you guys done with the peepee touching contest or do I need to end it? OrionStang Posted August 12, 2010 Report Share Posted August 12, 2010 Where does the spark contact from the pulley, you can't see where or what it's arcing to? Even with a short somewhere, it's weird that it's only the one pulley. I need to see it to try and help.
