Loosing power ?

thanks guys ! And dont worry, i purposely stared with some cheaper subs and equipment to learn with and believe it or not those subs have outperformed others that cost 2 to 3 times as much, and i dont worry myself with small minded HOMIES ! lol . I have noticed that my subs get preatty hot, should i port my enclosers ? is it because they are sealed that it is producing so much heat ? contrary to "bangin"s post i actually can read without assistance and have done alot of research ! Like i said startin out small and workin my way up !! Thanks for any help!!

the heat might be caused by a clipped signal or perhaps too much power being sent to them. I cant see from the picture but what kind of gauge wire are you using? Might be clipping caused by low voltage

I am running a 600 watt amp to both subs so it shouldnt be too much power and to be honest, im not absolutely sure about the wire, have to go look but bought an amp wiring kit for my size amp.

you're doing it the correct way in my opinion, starting out small and learning from your mistakes then moving up to bigger and better things. first off let me ask this, how did you tune your gains? and are you using and bass boosting EQ's at the moment? as in bassboost on the amplifier or LOUD or bass eq's on the headunit?

Like i said, you might be experiencing voltage drop if your amp power cables are too "thin". The bigger the cable the less resistance the easier the electricity will flow. Resulting in a more stable current.

(easiest explanation) If your power cables arent big enough your voltage will drop and the amplifier will not receive the amount of power it deserves, leading to a clipped signal to the subwoofers. (causing overheating)

and also like kranny said, perhaps your gains are set too high or bass boost is causing the clipping

I would say your voltage as well. Two 600 watt amps can draw a good amount off a stock electrical system and it will cause a significant drop in voltage which will also cause the amps to get hot and put out less power. I would just recommend getting a mid level battery from XS power or where ever you prefer.

If the picture in your signature is the system your running, its because thats garbage and you should do a lot more reading and researching before you rebuild again.

This is going to sound really sad Kranny but im not too sure how to set my gains on my amp ! i am running a stock head unit right now[purchasing one this next week, if any suggestions under 300 !] and i have only one 600 watt amp at the moment running both subs, getting another this weekend also ! But my bass boost and the main on my amp i adjusted to almost full way to get both of them to hit as hard as i could get them, but never have been sure on setting the gain.

Just checked, and running 8 gauge power and ground to my single 600 watt amp

EDIT: Also turn the bass boost all the way off! Follow this guide I posted.

Most likely a voltage drop, you r battery and/or alt. probably isn't putting out the needed power to keep your system going for a long time. it could also be that your system is getting over heated. i suggest getting a volt meter to check for the volt drops.
