well, that has already been done as well. When steve brown, can't remebe his last name but I think it's brown, had his 2 dd z 18s stolen he swapped in level 5 18s. He gained .5 db off rip with a higher impedance.

Done a 160 flat with the 2 dd zs and with the level 5s 160.5.

Power is 2 Stetson 14kds daily and 4 14kds on burps.

Also the deathmatch thing .... Well, that's tough for ANY equipment.

And as for what Steve said about the 2 warhorses per sub. Rusty was puttin 20kw per when he did 67.5 in his van.

have you seen Steve at comps? IIRC I've seen him pull a 162.3 well it was louder then a 160.5 with his DD's

Ye you are right its all pointless. Wait til Cody does his tests and everyone sees result. Granted the one side will make excuses about how its unfair. Everyone should take it for what it is. I really could care less cause I have no iterested in owning a SMD sub. Its just a simple test.

This thread has gotten entirely out of hand. I wasnt very clear with what I am building earlier so let me get everything straight. I am building a DAILY driver. This is going to be something that turns heads and pisses people off. I want to find out how each sub performs in my truck, im not doing this to tell anyone here how they will sound in their vehicle. To settle the argument somewhat, I will build 3 enclosures. 1 smaller enclosure,1 medium enclosure, and 1 larger enclosure. Test each sub in each box.

For those here that dont like what I am doing, please dont voice your negative opinions in this thread. All I want this to be is a simple build log. If you think this comparison is pointless, it might be for you but I want to see what the difference between these 2 subs is in MY vehicle.

Now please enjoy the rest of this build log. It should be interesting. If anyone sees something they think I have done wrong or could do better please tell me. All I am trying to do is build a badass daily monster.

This is the first time I have tried firing both sub and port up so the jury is still out on this configuration. It is most definitely painful to sit in.

I will get numbers tomorrow when I have some time to play with the term lab. I also am going to talk to wayne an see about having my TL mic re calibrated. When I had my Solo Xs in the truck, they would play music anywhere from 151-153.5 depending on the song. To my ear the Solo Xs dont hold a candle to the SMDs. They shake and rattle my truck like the Kicker never even thought about doing.
