4 dc audio lvl4xl 18's vs 4 ascendant audio mayhem 18's

Its a single cab obviously that has 2 15'' mayhems in a blowthrough powered by 2 sundown saz3000ds @ .5 ohms each and the damn thing is nasty as hell. First vehicle ive been in for awhile that hurt my ears He wouldn't meter it at the comp but I assume 158+ for sure. He has had Mayhems for 2 years never reconed them and has a stock alt. His voltage drops to about 11.5 and its fine... When i upgrade thats what im getting over the DC lvl 5... They have a better cooling system for daily driving and can handle some dumbass power. More like 5k+ rms to anyone with a brain.

Thanks guys, I need more opinions, id like to here from some people who have used the mayhems too. I've heard that the mayhems have a better coolin system than the xls is this true?

yes, the mayhems have a better cooling system. DC subs are pretty simple, and simple works. my XLs are finally getting warm off of 3000w but not enough to worry about.

both are very good subs. if it was me, i would go with the mayhems just because it would be something new. then you would know how the XLs sound and how mayhems sound. but off that power... i dunno, the XLs might do better.

11.5v is not fine... thats how you kill batteries. and the level 5 can take 5k rms too. ive also seen both the level 5 and mayhem take an SD 12k for burps and they both did great.

I love how all you guys think that 11.5 is horrible or something.... THATS FREAKING NORMAL!!!! To those of us that dont run 25 alts in our cars we have normal resting voltage of about 13... And when things get hairy in my car that does a 154.2 in kick and 152.4 on windshield then my voltage tends to drop to about 11.2. Now say what you want but when you have a better score than me then go on and bs some more people and say 11.5 is bad. Also when he runs it full tilt for about 15 min back to back demos 11.5 is fine... Please realize that getting an alt helps but batteries is how its been done for years. You dont need a 15volt system to safely run subs.. Its just better...

Off that power prolly XLs if you got enough dough to power the Mayhems, they will man handle the XL and I won't put it past them man-handling the Lvl5 in a daily application.

And 11.X volts isn't normal... I never let the voltage go below the battery floating voltage... In any setup I've ever had or installed... I keep my voltage above mid 13s to mid 14s full tilt at idle.

maybe thats normal for you. but its NOT good. at my last job, if we had a battery reach 12v we would get rid of the battery. because when the battery drains its looses capacity. drain them enough times and now you have a battery working at 50% capacity.

you dont need 25 alts... dont be ridiculous. and you have 16v batteries dropping to 11.2v??? thats like running a 12v battery to 7v
