i did the big 3 in 4 gauge wire. (for now) until i get 0 gauge. when i did it, i hooked my engine ground to my negative terminal on the battery.

is that bad?

cuz ive seen that its supposed to go

engine to chassis, but isnt the negative pretty much a ground anyway?

As long as the negative battery terminal goes to a good ground it's fine. That's how a lot of car are actually wired stock. Engine block to battery - to ground.

i have all the stock wiring still hooked up as well, i just added the 4 gauge

thats perfect. current will take the path of least resistance. you are not replacing the factory wiring. You are buffering it.

One ground goes from the battery to the chasis and one goes from the battery to the engine block!

how much power do you plan on running? because 4 gauge for your big 3 will be more than enough for plenty of current due to it being so short. I have also heard of people burning the + terminal of their alternator using 0 gauge wire because of the small resistance in the wire, and the higher resistance in the terminal. Terminal heats up and damages the alt.
