DB Drag is the only format that doesn't have a variable in Mic placement. I know that every time the mic is placed in my truck that if my system is the same, i will achieve the same results.

This IS NOT the case in any other format. Lets look at drive by. Yes you are 6ft from the mic, but I know damn well that my score will be greatly affected by where I stop on an angle from the mic. This user error changes possible outcome.

Same thing comes into play with measurement at the headrest. I know I can change my seat position and achieve different results. And anyone who has a mic and plays in orgs without a "legal" placement will know what tricks he can do to get the possible score.

But you already have your org all set up and thought about every possible way for people to gain an edge right?

either way the standard today in Car Audio can in no way be matched up against a Proven mathmatical Equation formula as MPH.... that is a set rate of speed. and within that same comment you state that vehicles meter differently.... Well that disproves any factual or mathmatical equality

you can not design a system... and then put it in and say ok this system will hit this number exactly... if so PROVE it and you will fail..

This ^. IMHO this thread is retarded. It's like trying to change the guidelines for football. Do it, and you'll piss everyone and their mom off. And like someone else said, you really wanted to be fair to everyone, then you'd just set the mic in the port, but like other people are saying, you don't drive around with your head in the port. If anything seems most realistic it'd be at the head rest where you sit when you drive.

But then again, if you don't like the rules, don't compete. Save yourself the money and embarrassment of bitching about other peoples ways of metering what is a "legal" score.

what it seems like to me is only db drag uses the "legal" format all the other leagues have an a adopted outlaw style. being the "outlaw" is the majority then i think the legal term is ridiculous. and no one is bitching about using the orgs rules and competing with them he stating the fact of why is it not impressive metering it outlaw? also non of these other orgs were built overnight so why should SPLeague? give it time and im sure it will catch on cause it seems everyone is ready for a change.

SPL is mathematical so again your wrong. and the termlab doesnt measure the peak frequency only, it averages the top 3. the AC mics give you the peak frequency only. but no one is saying "your not loud", your just not as loud as if you metered the standard way. big fucking deal. quit taking that shit up your ass.

i built mine to get loud on the dash cause i was competing in iasca. i only gain about .5 db going from dash sealed to kick unsealed BUT, if someone else is louder then me in the kick, doors open, then i have no problems saying they are louder. i dont care if the car is sealed or not. the whole "was the score legal" is retarded. its what people say when they know you are louder then them but dont want to admit it.

Horrible joking metaphors aside, I feel like there should be some standard used. And it already exists. dbDrag's "legal" format is the accepted standard. It's always been the standard, even since the beginning. It's the standard for comparison for the same reason a basketball hoop is 10 feet tall, a football field is 100 yards long (not counting endzones smartass) and even a golfball has standardizations on diameter and maximum velocity in controlled testing environments. It is possible to get a golfball to go faster than the standard, but that comes down to individual performance. Now, if you want your car to be louder by measuring it a different way than the "legal" format, then you're more than welcome to go do that. However, that doesn't mean that everyone else wants to do it your way nor that you should bitch about it because your "standard" allows for anyone to tweak their vehicle in a way to gain an advantage over others.
