gbsx
good job building it, 2 questions/statements fill all the wood with a bondo type filler, before you paint so it looks completely uniform why all the white caulk? do you not believe that with a large port that the air will take the path of lest resistance? and with a properly glued joint, it makes a great seal... 1. I painted everything because I had the gun out and wanted to do the inside of the box as well and with that gun it was hard to not just do the outside as well it had a wide spray to it. So I just did everything. I will be countersinking all the other screws I have and doing bondo then re-painting with a couple coats and then some clear coat. 2. On my first box I did glue on all of my joints and screwed everything down as well as clamping everything well I was screwing everything together and letting the glue dry. It sounded fine but then a friend and I went in a used caulking on all of the edges and it sounded dramatically different in a good way so I'm just doing it on this one as well before hand. If I don't like it then I'll build another box. I get MDF at $15 a sheet and this box only took about 60% of one sheet. 1989 E30 325i BMW (New Car) iPad 64GB 3G (COMING SOON!) 1 12" DC LEVEL 4 w/LEVEL 5 Soft Parts Ported box - 1.5 Cubes tuned to 33hz Sound Stream STL1.1200D 4 Gauge Stinger Wire (+ & -) 8 Gauge Amp to Sub Stinger Wire Tsunami Mini ANL 130 Amp Fuse AUDIO WRAP SUPPORTER! AA98hoe
was that latex caulking or 100% silicone. it looks like latex adhesive. that stuff doesnt dry.good craftmenship on the overall box tho. I use fiber glass resin on all my enclosures it justs fills in all the gaps and the porus mdf and makes it smooth as glass i think it helps with air flow TEAM DC AUDIO VEHICLE:98 chevy tahoe 2wd 3-4 drop HEADUNIT:alpine 9886 PREAMP:arcaudio FRONT STAGE:4-6 1/2s selinium,DD component set and 4-selinium tweeters in each door KICKPANELS:jl audio 5 1/4 REAR DOORS: dd components 6 1/2s HIGHS AMPS:zapco 750.2 on front doors, zapco an another 750.2 on kicks and rear doors SUBS:4-ascendant audio 18s with 5 spiders in a custom box built by KINGSUV SUB AMP: 2-dc7.5s ALTERNATORS: 3-mechmans 1- 425comp, 1-smd spec350, 1-270 with adj voltage harness on custom dc bracket WIRE:10-runs 0g front to back BATTERIES:6-d1400s TL results:157.1 at 38hz and 156.8 at headrest score @37hz. Namosh
Looks good. You say you put the screws in after the glue dried? The point of screws is to pull the glue joint as tight as possible before it dries. Not really much point in putting them in after. They won't really make the box any stronger...may even weaken the joints. My Ram Quad Cab Blow-through

Maybe next box. I do want to try that. Looks good. You say you put the screws in after the glue dried? The point of screws is to pull the glue joint as tight as possible before it dries. No I screwed the screws directly after I set the top on with the fresh glue. 1989 E30 325i BMW (New Car) iPad 64GB 3G (COMING SOON!) 1 12" DC LEVEL 4 w/LEVEL 5 Soft Parts Ported box - 1.5 Cubes tuned to 33hz Sound Stream STL1.1200D 4 Gauge Stinger Wire (+ & -) 8 Gauge Amp to Sub Stinger Wire Tsunami Mini ANL 130 Amp Fuse AUDIO WRAP SUPPORTER! gbsx
New pictures and a few videos. Finished with box finally!! I'm loving it. It's tuned to 30hz. Damn does it move alot more air. I'm loving the wider port as well. My first box's port was like 1.5" wide, it sucked. Anyways, enjoy. I took alot. It didn't end up looking as pretty but who cares it's already sold and I'm moving it on out as well as the Type R this week hopefully.
