I just finally registered here because I finally need some professional help, I recently snagged 2 Audiobahn AW150T's off ebay, brand new in box for really cheap. like 100 bucks, I didnt have a good amp and have been running them off a lanzar vector(VCT-2100) getting about 75 rms, I sprung for an MA comp (HK1000D)(on ebay ohhh boy lemme have it) this is where it starts, The amp was a bit rusty, but I shrugged it off.. I shouldn't have. It has DC running through the speaker outputs, I went to put the +/- in and as soon as one AW150T touched it fully it arced and smoked the 15. I got one good one and one bad one now.... Question is, I cannot find any recone kits for it, is it possible to fix this? this is a VERY hard sub to find. I mean one might be over kill... but one is never enough.

Thanks in advance.

Also reading on some posts here I found fixmyspeaker.com, i sent in a request but have had no reply yet.

Is it the AW1508T or AW1506T?

Either way, my buddy used to run those, and I used to carry them at the shop I worked at about 9 years ago.

Honestly, those subs arent worth the time or money. I'd suggest getting a nice pair of subs that are more up to date and would perform better and be more reliable.

Audiobahn had a habit of being very un-reliable.

It could cost $150ea to recone them BTW.

You would have to re-cone both subs to match since the original parts do not exist.

Parts to recone each woofer could be around $75, then maybe another $75 labor for each, and then shipping back and forth.

And it would not be a drop in recone, you would have to scrounge various parts together to make them fit, and then build the re-cone.

I didn't ask for posts regarding omg audiobahn sucks. I am audiobahn and will be these subs hit harder then any I have had, Including audiopipe which is the fanboi setup these days. The only problem is unlike the orion HCCA's you cannot just unscrew it from the basket to change the coil once it is done.

They aparently are just AW150T Single 4ohm VC 600watts RMS

WHo/where is this Forevrbumpn guy?

a reply while I replied. Why would we have to scrounge? I am sure audiobahn can send them out, aside from popular belief they aren't bankrupt. (I hope) I just need someone to do the work, Im fine with just geting the blown one running, I wish it didnt have to be one you had to cut. atleast preserve the dustcap.

Guess I shouldnt try and aid with my experience if feelings will be hurt. I only have parts that can fit sitting here in front of me but oh well. And yes they can cost $75. And someone else to do it would cost labor.

And no Audiobahn is not bankrupt, they just relaunched and are coming back. But you have an older model that I have not seen parts for in years.

That woofer is a 2" coiled woofer, a low end model. If you had a warranty issue and sent it back to Audiobahn, they would not repair it, they would toss it and send a new one.

Guess how I know? Because I work in the same industry, I know the people at Audiobahn, and I know the standards set down for warranty and repairs.

If a woofer is below a certain cost, it is just simply not worth it to repair.

Maybe you can get parts cheaper, but to know the exact sizes of what will fit, the sub will have to be torn apart and measured.

BTW, back in 2000, I competed with two 12" of the previous versions of those, subs. I did a 150.1 on the old meter which is about a 143dB nowadays.

That was pretty darn good I must say.

But one day a magnet fell off one of the woofers.
