Also, you do realize "spl" stands for Sound pressure level. The level of pressure that the sound produces.

So pressure and sound go hand in hand. The termlab doesn't lie and just because you move a lot of air doesn't mean you will meter loud.

i agree to this guy 100%. just to give an example i think this whole "SPL" Level is bunch of BS on a termlab. just for example. in my sentra i was running 2 old soundstream rubicons 1002's at 1.2ohms bridged 1 on each of a new Soundstream SPLX12-4 QVC 1000RMS a sub in only a 1.75cu a side transmission line enclosure with 1 main battery and a stock "80amp" alternator at the time.. in the trunk slammed up to the decklid firing back only about 4in away and i know for a fact my stuff is LOUD! it litterly takes the air from your lungs although on a termlab it was supposedly only hitting a 143.5 which is total BS in which is dumb because no lie ive measured it i shake houses over 1mile down the road and been told by manyyy people.

a buddy of mine running 4 RE SE 10s in a cavalier fired up in the trunk 1/2 in the trunk 1/2 in the backseat on 2 Rub2500.1d's strapped at 5k with 5 batterys was hittin 149+ and was honestly no where any near as loud as mine. this whole "pressure build up in a cab" is crap. and his you couldnt hear but the next building over.

this is just my opinion ive had a lot people though agree with me once they sat in my car and then cars that did almost a 150+ there's honestly no comparison with mine to theres.

another example 3 weeks ago a kid was showing up his FI BTL 15 on 2k RMS and everyone said how amazing it was and how loud it was and hes doin mid 140s np. but a friend mine came back telling me this wanted to hear my system. so i let him sit in and lets just say by time he got out he couldn't breathe or walk straight lol.

so heres my argument a TERMLAB i believe is not a good way to ever test music and honestly think its crap so im agreeing to the youtube post.

and i know im missing a lot of factors of car, box, size, firing direction and not saying mines the best.. i just dont understand why building up pressure is sound its not its bascilly air.build up on cabin pressure. lol im only 19 and my old man been in car audio for over 20some years. and what i remember looked up and have seen is the "SPL" use to be measured by sound which i belive is the correct way.

but why im on topic 1 more example. in a blazer i listend to 8-15s sure it was loud moved A LOT of air windows up doors shut hitting mid 150s. but still no where near as loud as mine. the different type of sounds its producing does not show up on a termlab compared then it use it years ago.

that last example... hahah

yeah, gotta get the type right or you'll be fighting for position with the funkypups......

Any time you have have a power wire next to your frame put some rubber hosing (or cut up an innertube) around it. The wire is bound to wiggle (due to driving or flex) and the casing will eventually wear through.

i know what SPL is. i just do not belive it is the correct way to measure "music" as in example in the youtube post. and lol im talking with the doors open on both cars in distance..

fine heres another example ive had people sit in my car that has systems that do 150. and they have gotten in mine told me how much louder it is and ask what im hitting and i tell them "termlab" shows 143 and they tell me im lying its well over 150. i know im not building up pressure its a different type of sound thats all im saying.

I think you missed boiler makers point. By you saying yours is heard a mile away it is obvious your "sound" is not staying in your vehicle. While the people with 150+ systems have went to great measure to deaden their cars to insure that the sound and accompaning pressure stay inside.

Bingo.

Another thing people need to realize is that loudness on the termlab and loudness to the ear can be 2 completely different things. And don't forget about a car's acoustics, a car with one 12 inch sub may meter as high as a van with sixteen 12 inch subs, but the van will be much louder to the ear.

sorry for any arguements. i guess my statement should been im disapointed on how sound is measured when i sit in a car does 150 all doors shut and my car all doors shut does 143 everyone says how much louder mine is its strange how the music is being measured at that point.
