lowpt
I am starting to plan a system redo/update. I went and picked up some 1/0 from a local shop. Only after getting home did I notice it is copper coated wire. How much difference is there current handling wise between this and copper? I'm just wondering before I go through the trouble of running this, if it would be worth my time and $$ to get pure copper.
fr34kout
CCA is rated to take about 250 amps of current, OFC is rated to take about 300 amps of current. If you're not going to be pulling that amount through the wire you will probably be fine, but if your're guna be running 200 amps or so I would say either get OFC or do 2 runs of CCA. bobonit
I know that with the knukoncepts 1/0 wire, the copper will support 300 amps, the copper clad will support 250 amps, so there is a difference. 97 Maxima SE Bunch of shit going in, check out the build Build Log

fr34kout
What amp to be specific? If it's like a RF 2k or SAZ 2k I would get OFC. If it's a Power Acoustik 2k, you'll be fine with CCA.
