Hotdog Posted November 25, 2010 Report Posted November 25, 2010 About 6 weeks ago I installed an MLA module in my Mountaineer and voltages have been running over 15 cold and about 14.8 warm. Well after driving with it installed for a while I notice I have been getting about 1 mpg more then usual. I usually pay attention to my fuel consumption closely and my driving habits have not changed at all. Has anyone else noticed a fuel economy increase since installing a MLA or VCM? It gets shitty no matter what, 1000+ pounds in the cab with quad alts underhood is making that V8 work!!!! LOL That makes it hard to figure out if there was an increase when you have that much weight. My system was complete when I added the MLA so it was the only change when I noticed the MPG going up. fr34kout Posted November 25, 2010 Report Posted November 25, 2010 My thoughts are since the MLA / VCM is charging at a higher voltage, you are seeing a more stable voltage for your ignition system giving your spark plugs better burn.

LOL Thats what I see. 3 alts, 4 batteries, several runs of cable, big ass box, 10 subs and a few amps = less gas mileage I dont have a VCM yet but I seriously doubt I will see an increase in gas mileage adding one. Maybe if I add all the gear into a Honda Civic instead of a Silverado I could see an increase in mileage lol.
