What electrical upgrades do i need

Recommended Posts

I agree, no need for dual alts. But a single Mechman 270 charging a nice starter battery, and an XS Power D3100 with 2 runs is more than enough.

I could make 2 group 31s and a group 34 on a DC power 270sp drop to 13's with 2 aq2200s at 2 ohms strapped. He'll need more then you're suggesting. All brand names aside.

This ill need to see. Single iraggi 300, yellowtop under the hood, D3100 in the back, one RF T4000, one kicker 250.2 with big 3 and 2 runs of 0, never below 14volts at full tilt.

It was when I upgraded my two championships to four championships. I clamped that T4000 at 4308. I know it can be done.

look around 1:48 .. and this wasn't the worst song for this system i could see 13.3 at times.

now. you don't wanna know what i see now that i have those 2 aq2200's strapped at 1 ohm (1/2 ohm per amp)

A mechman 270 and 3 regular batteries stays fine constantly staying at 14-14.1v at full tilt with the same power in my friends explorer. I'd say that a good HO Alternator and a good starting battery and a good second battery (xs D3400 or similar) would be fine.

How old was the alternator? I see your video and you make your point. But I had a completely different experience. Weird. Just one of those things I guess

When are you wanting 14.4 on the amp? At idle or cruising at 1500 - 2000 rpm? Answer that and THAT will decide what you need for alts and batts to sustain healthy voltage on that amp. And is the 1.33 your nominal impedance, so are you aware of what your rise is?

not everyone is trying to compete AMI or get a 160, lol

No shit, just trying to help considering I have heavily tested with the 3500's and I know what is needed to make the voltage stay up. :pardon:

I was just referring to impedance rise. Way too many people get hung up on their rise when they're not competing and playing a lot more than just one note. As soon as I buy all my 3500s ill be asking you with any questions, but this guy doesn't even know how to properly set up his electrical. Which isn't bad, I'm just saying rise might be a lot more than he's ready to tackle when I don't see it important for a daily system.
