Career Recommendations

Recommended Posts

Im 15 years old, a sophomore in high school, and live in New York. I really need to start thinking about my future and career. There are just so many jobs out there, and I want your recommendations as to what I should do for the rest of my life.

I really want to be a police officer, but here in NY they get paid VERY poorly. Im a people person and am good with electronics. I work very well with computers and cell phones. Friends actually come to me for help.

Im also very good in the Car Audio field. Im decent at fabrication (basic fiber glassing and making wood panels). With actual training, I have no doubt that ill "master" it. I can also install pretty much any electrical car component (LEDs, switches, sound processor, carputer, headunit, amps, speakers, relays, etc) by using solder and heat shrink tubing. Youll see that in my build next year.

I enjoy Math and Physics. Im also creative and artistic. I dont mind doing a hands on job; i just dont want to do any manual labor.

Now, for some things im not to well at. I havent enjoyed any history classes. My yearly averages are usually about 85% though in history though. Im pretty quiet, but can get loud if I need to. I work at a summer camp in the summers, and my friends get surprised by how loud I get.

I want a good paying job because I dont want to worry about my bank account and want to do a big build (~$20,000) in a luxury car (lets say $50,000) by the time I'm 45 years old (I know there are many variables). I want to enjoy my job too. As for hours- I dont mind working 7 days a week.

What do you guys recommend for me?

Same position for me. Heard about denturism. I love working with my hands and by myself. That's what I'm doing next year, starting college. I would advise u to pick a job that will still exist in the future. People need teeth right?

This is a good point. My neighbor is a single and a dentist. He pushes a Mercedez Benz GL450, '86 Porsche 911, and a BMW M6

I would look into some form of green energy development. That market is going to explode in the next 10-15 years. Just look at all the money the oil companies are investing into it. I'm taking Environmental Science classes right now to get into it later on.

Get into electronics and you'll be pretty much taking school for the rest of your life to keep up with the changes in technology, so I hope you think that through.
