may03LT
Have someone cycle 2wd while you gently tap the actuator with a hammer.

Now it will go from 2hi to 4hi in park and in neutral, but it only goes from 4hi to 4lo in neutral. Does this effect anything?
JaM Customs aka mprete
no it must be in neutral to shift into or out of 4LO. the transfer case has to change to the lower gear ratio and can not do so if its still in drive. but yea just buy a new actuator and call it a day. it might also help to read through the manual in the 4x4 section just to make sure your not doing anyhting wrong. n8ball2013
the actuator is located on the pass side of the front drive shaft. have someone push the button while you lay on the ground and see if you can hear it. I did mine nad it took about 10 minutes tops. n8ball2013
gmfullsize.com or fullsizechevy.com they are going to tell you to change the actuator or the switch itself though.
