I gave up hunting about 8 years or so ago when my partners in crime gave it up. For me it was always a drive to go and the land I had access to was way the hell up north. Couple that with the fact that MI outlawed baiting and I was done. The land owner wouldn't let me plant anything for the deer so I got pissed off and quit. Good choice on getting the rifle, I absolutely hate bow. I've done it a handful of times and every single outing I saw atleast a half dozen deer I would have bagged with a rifle. You're allowed to hunt with pistols? I thought you were only allowed to use rifles, but I could be wrong. I've never gone hunting myself, but if you're allowed to hunt with pistols...I might have to start hunting! Tons of states allow it. The only time I ever hunted with a pistol was when I was close to civilization and in fact some areas are pistol only. The last thing you want to do is blast one off from a 300+ when there is stuff around.
