It's pretty simple really... Get yourself two 12's.. Two 15's if possible... Seal them off from the trunk.

Then throw as much power at them as you can. Oh, and tune your box to about 38hz.

i either have room for 2 12's in a ported box OR 2 15's in a sealed....

Get DDs 95 series subs. Seriously. I don't know what kind of magic SPL dust they rub into the cone but whatever it is, nothing else I've ever heard delivers quite the same violent bass. Honestly, I don't know why, and that's not like me.

Bias opinion.

Well duhhhhhhh :peepwall:

But still. I've heard a stack of systems and nothing yet has given me that same kinda 'smack' as the 95s do. Even systems that were louder on the meter didn't deliver the same perceived violence in the car.

Do you mean punchiness?

No. I mean ruthless, make you feel kinda sick, eyes water, can't see where you're driving bass.

i have been trying to do my research on sound waves and how they work. thing is im coming up empty due to my lack of knowledge on car audio and how sound frequencies move about the cabin. my goal is to give people watery eyes and that hard to breath effect when the bass hits. i have gone through many ideas for my system, and what i really want to do is face them forward with the port forward with the trunk sealed off( like i said in a previous post ) but like i said i want HARD hitting bass, bass you wouldnt expect from 2 12's. the question is how to i go about doing this? do i measure out the entire cabin from the front windshield to where the box will be then from door to door? what do i do to achieve these goals?!? please help!

Believe it or not, you dont need to know anything about how sound waves behave in your car to create the effect you desire.

It is too complicated to plot wave movement and behavior without proper software and an accurate model of the cabin. So we usually simplify things.

Air is a fluid medium. Sound waves are rapid changes in pressure in the medium of air.

The waves themselves do propagate from the source (woofers) and move outwards, but this does not happen in a straight line or even in one direction.

The sizes of the waves in the bass range are very large. 20hz if 56ft long.

The wave is propagated from the source and immediately receives interfering waves that are reflected from all angles of the car's interior.

Hard reflections from a rigid surface are of a different phase than soft reflections from surface that vibrate easily like a door.

Harmonics come into play from the soft reflective surfaces as well.

All of this is moving back and forth in every direction you can think of. And interference is cancelling parts as well as amplifying other parts of the wave.

Basically what I am trying to get at is that think of the air in the cabin as a bowl of jello. When playing bass, you are simply shaking that jello violently.

Now it is possibly with complicated models to predict and plot the vibration patterns in that jello, but you can guess how hard that may be.

Sooooo.

Build a strong box, seal it up tight, and add as much power as you can.
