pthrift
so i've searched some and am not finding much help at all...I'm building a box for 4-18's... and i'm worried about my port flexing and whatnot. I had this problem on my last box (4-15's; common port wall with outside of box) anyway. port is going to run along the bottom of the box; it'll be a 46x13.5" piece of MDF. The entire outside of the box is going to be double layer, should I just go ahead and double layer the port as well? is there a better way? On that 4-15 box I had; we would up putting a 2x4 in the center of the port and screwing it in, which worked, but it changed tuning and I thought it made a lot of noise. any help is appreciated-- Quote Clicky for build log.... 2002 Tahoe DC Power Inc 3 alt bracket with 2x230a. alts 1 stock Eclipse CD5030 2 JL HD 600/4 4 Rockford Fosgate 2500bdcp's 4 DC Audio 18" XL's 4 Pr MB Quart Premium Components 200FT Stinger HPM 1/0 Rockford 360.2 No where near enough sound deadening

speedball1978
why not resin/fiberglass your port?
pthrift
I have the intintion to put down a layer of resin on the entire inside of the box....when u say glass it; you mean just add a few extra layers what; to the top of the port or something ? Socky
You could couple peices of dowel rodes in there, the would still flow nicely, shouldnt make port noise. Namosh
Just brace it with allthread or dowel rods just like any box. It shouldn't change tuning or create noise. Quote My Ram Quad Cab Blow-through
