bumpinTL364
I'm looking into building a small 2.1 system for my room and want to know what kind of differences I would see if I used "speakers" or made small towers with a mid-bass driver and tweeter, both hooked up to just a sub and multi-channel amp. I don't really feel like I need much mid-bass because I'm building this system to focus on getting lower and louder, but sound/track quality is definitely a priority. Keep in mind my room is SMALL, I'm going to use either 3 4"s or 2 6.5"s for my bass set-up, so nothing drastic. IH8PunkRok
"speakers" is a shortened version of loudspeaker which is an electro-acoustic transducer that converts electrical signals into sounds loud enough to be heard at a distance so um you are using "speakers" either way Quote -Matt2005 Dodge Magnum RTJVC KD-AVX1 2 PPI S580.2 Obsidian Audio ST1 Horn Tweeters PRV 8MB450s Audio Legion 3500.1D 2 RE MT 18s 360 ah LiFePO4 BatterySHCA 2/0 155.2 @ 29 hzKicker CVR 15's buildDD 3512e buildMini T-Line Build(6) 8s BuildNightshade 15s Wall BuildMagnum AB XFL 12s BuildNewest Magnum Build

FaTbOy911
i got lost after he said "speakers" Quote Had an estimate of 6400 for an alpine/clarion setup dealer said it "should" hit around 160db with the custom boxes he was going to make for me..doubtful with so much area to move but, budget is way below that any ideas on cheaper brands for that kind of Spl setup? really didnt want to try any Boss or soundstorm, thinking Quantum figure around $150 per speaker "$1800 total" and $1700 to power it, first actual big setup for the van. bumpinTL364
ah sorry guys, didn't know I'd be this confusing... here's a link to "speakers" http://www.parts-express.com/wizards/searchResults.cfm?srchExt=CAT&srchCat=955 now that you point it out they really are the same thing... I guess what I was getting at is if a "speaker/driver" were to have enough range to produce the frequencies of both a mid-bass driver and a tweeter (I know this doesn't even sound right to me, but I know I've heard my woofer playing mid-bass parts with the cross-over setup to do so), would it be more efficient/cost effective and sound just as good as using a tower that included two separate drivers for mid-bass and highs? IH8PunkRok
separate components will in damn near all cases prove to have better SQ than a full range driver. think about it. if a company that makes cars had one worker doing everything would they be able to make good cars and make them fast? NO the less you make a driver play, the better it can play the signals it receives. skittlesRgood
i have a set of "full range" drivers. but they play up to 20,000hz but the response is shit. "can" and "do it well" can be quite different. Quote If I answered you in a well mannered, informative way, you asked a good question or had a good attitude.
