May be downsizing need sub suggestions

Recommended Posts

Im thinking of downsizing my setup. Im getting tired of having a single cab truck when I should have my ext cab. I still want some decent sound. I have 2 audioque 2200s. I think I want to get a bit creative with a mostly under my backseat box. I want my backseats back in and I have a decent amount of power to use. I want to try and get a somewhat on the smaller side of mount depth, but I want subs that will get somewhat loud in a small box , they dont need to be able to handle 2000 rms each if they handle less I will just either run 1 amp or keep my settings very low. I understand I wont be "loud" anymore I just want some decent thump in a tight space. Any suggestions?

Critical Mass SS10 series could be a possibility. They sound really nice to me, and can be run in a sealed box.

I dont know if I should go with 4 8's 2 10's or 2 12's 2 12's would be most cone area but would be hardest to build a box that fits mostly under the seat

Id do 2 beefy tens if you are really trying to keep your seat. you're going to need alot of work to get it to work iwth the amps you have and what not.

I am thinking about mounting the amps behind the seat and building a little box to hide my battery on the floor in the middle of the backseat on top of the hump on the floor. Most likely will try to do subs facing foward, If I do 10's or 12's I will make the box stickout past the front of the seat an inch or two so I can have the room to mount the subs on the face of the box.

As long as I can get the box to fit mostly under the seat Ill figure out where to mount the amps and battery.

dc level 4's, neo_frog has 12 of em for sale, in 10"..2 of those on 1 of the aq 2200's would do good i'd say

c'mon now, if i was shooting an 8 year old, it wouldnt be MY 8 year old.

i recently got a Pyle PL1590BL and i was building an enclosure for it tuned to 25 hz. i didn't have any tools to cut a circle so i hit it with a big hammer.

To answer your sub question, if you do go forward with the subs, the boston ovals take a lot of power and would be much shorter than a normal 12 but,

you could always do the rear center console idea. i did one with 2 sa 8's in a ford crew cab and it got pretty loud off 800 watts on each. if you go up onto the seat im sure youd have enough room for the 12's plus have room under the seats for the amps and battery. i always worry about mounting em forward under the seat since theyre super liable to get kicked. Just my opinion. Your builds always end up nice so im sure you'll figure it out.

I would do two level 3 10s or SSDs and just use one of those AQ2200s. Lift the seat 2 inches and you could have a pounding daily system

Tell me...does this smell like chloroform to you?
