Hello, I have a big Question, we are actually arguing about this issue over

in a forum. We want the technical answer of "Why do we need to put a second

fuse next to the amp". It is suggested if the amp doesnt have internal fusing

that we put a second fuse next to the amp. The situation is a single amp

fused by the battery with a wire running to the amp then being fused by the

amp and then going back into the amp. The forum we are at is

we just want an answer, and a more technical answer would be nice, as we

really want a good explanation of why. It is believed by some member that the

front fuse, if fused at the same amperage as the amp will protect the the

LOL! The manual to my Kicker Warhorse amplifier mentions nothing about putting a fuse by the amplifier. The manual explicitly show fuses no more than 18" from the alts. Wires to the battery bank have fuses within 18" of getting to the battery bank and fuses within 18" of leaving the battery bank to the amplifier. The manual did not show fuses at the amp, and that's knowing the amp has no fuses. I wonder?

Maybe since you asked, Kicker decided to play it safe regardless.

idk, but in reality, it doesnt hurt to fuse the amps, its like a whole 4 bucks with a fuse holder, all depends I guess, you can make a fuse holder with 2 bolts and a fuse, ha ha

It might be because its the Warhorse?

Its just a huge ass amp and I guess it would take a 1000 amp fuse. LOL

I can see why they wouldn't say anything about the Warhorse. its just a different beast and I doubt that they thought people without experience would be buying it.

They probably thought people that bought it would know what they were doing.

EDIT: You guys don't think a 139 db with one 10 inch L7 and a 500 watt amp in a car that was not designed for SPL isn't any good. BTW this was in 2003.

if it was 139dB with an entry level 8inch, something costing $50 or less, it would be a good score, or if it was 144+ with the 10inch L7 it would be a good score.

what car was it in anyway?

its a decent score for a musical setup, but nothing really to brag about in terms of SPL.

you're explaining things poorly. people argue with me constantly because they only know what they've been told.
