Carputer + HU question

Recommended Posts

So I have a carputer (not installed yet) and I've seen alot of people run them in a a carputer/HU combo to get a higher voltage to the amps, 4v+ as opposed to the maybe 2v from the carputers. I was wondering how to set up the HU with a carputer and how that works, volume and controls wise. And can it be done with any HU?

It's the first carputer I'm gonna use so I just want to make sure I do it right while still getting as much from my system as I can.

if the HU has an AUX in use the audio output from the carputer on the AUX in on the HU

where did you get your carputer

And when I do that I control songs, videos, and all that from the carputer and volume, eq, and those types of things with the HU?

I got it used off CACO.

^^ correct. i have my volume maxed out on my carputer so that way it is a consistent volume adjustment from my head unit.

Alright cool.

So I can use just about any unit with AUX input. Connect the carputer to the AUX input on the HU. Then run all my RCAs, remote, and all to the amps like a normal install right.

I have my mac mini wired and ready for a cd player then doing aux and using it to run the sub and mid amps. Now I'm trying to figure out a good cd player :) I'm doing it the same exact way that you are doing it.
