Jared420 Posted January 25, 2011 Report Posted January 25, 2011 Are these boxes any good at all? I am downsizing my system alot right now just because im tired of not having any room in my truck for anything. I am selling my 15's and buying 2 10'' dc lvl 3's with lvl 4 coils. I know everyones against prefab boxes but I dont even think I want the headache of building a box to fit under the seat and fire foward and contour to all the shapes on the floor. I Found a prefab downfire box for my truck and after sub displacement each chamber would be .80 cuft and the recommended size for sealed that DC has in the specs is .75 so size would be right on. Ill be running them on an aq2200 @ 1 ohm will a box like this be decent to get the job done? 2012 silverado ext cab ltz 24" kmc rims AudioQue 2200 Pioneer AppRadio Alpine mrx f35 4 channel Bose mids and highs Iraggi Alt + stock alt in a DC power dual alternator kit Yellowtop+stock under hood 0 gauge Knu wire Big 3 4 gauge stinger (4 chan wiring) 3 DC 10'' LVL3 with LVL4 parts
Jared420 Posted January 25, 2011 Author Report Posted January 25, 2011 Also a plan on raising my seat about 1/2'' with thick washers and Im going to put little feet on the box to make sure its raised up off the floor. 2012 silverado ext cab ltz 24" kmc rims AudioQue 2200 Pioneer AppRadio Alpine mrx f35 4 channel Bose mids and highs Iraggi Alt + stock alt in a DC power dual alternator kit Yellowtop+stock under hood 0 gauge Knu wire Big 3 4 gauge stinger (4 chan wiring) 3 DC 10'' LVL3 with LVL4 parts
AI James Posted January 25, 2011 Report Posted January 25, 2011 down-firing doesn't work well in that environment, load off a side panel or something. usually down-firing your still to close for the sound wave to fully develop.
Jared420 Posted January 27, 2011 Author Report Posted January 27, 2011 so even if I got the prefab box and got some aero ports and fired one out each side of the box towards the doors? think that would work better or am I really gonna have to suck it up and build a box that fires foward? 2012 silverado ext cab ltz 24" kmc rims AudioQue 2200 Pioneer AppRadio Alpine mrx f35 4 channel Bose mids and highs Iraggi Alt + stock alt in a DC power dual alternator kit Yellowtop+stock under hood 0 gauge Knu wire Big 3 4 gauge stinger (4 chan wiring) 3 DC 10'' LVL3 with LVL4 parts
abervintageman42 Posted January 27, 2011 Report Posted January 27, 2011 dont even fuck with it, not enough airspace, you could do that but it would take a ton of power to even get those subs moving
tacomaguy1 Posted January 27, 2011 Report Posted January 27, 2011 how many cu. ft. is the prefab...you say .75 is recommended for sealed but ported usually requires more volume. Box might be too small to just throw aeroports on and call it a day Team Flex Issues

Box might be too small to just throw aeroports on and call it a day 1 cuft is recommended ported, and what would "a ton of power" be The subs are only rated at like 8-900 rms and Ill be running them on an AQ 2200 and I have another aq2200 I could hook up if the subs could handle it but I think that would be too much power. 2012 silverado ext cab ltz 24" kmc rims AudioQue 2200 Pioneer AppRadio Alpine mrx f35 4 channel Bose mids and highs Iraggi Alt + stock alt in a DC power dual alternator kit Yellowtop+stock under hood 0 gauge Knu wire Big 3 4 gauge stinger (4 chan wiring) 3 DC 10'' LVL3 with LVL4 parts
Jared420 Posted January 28, 2011 Author Report Posted January 28, 2011 on that power subject, anyone even run lvl 3s with 4 coils and how much power can they actually handle? 2012 silverado ext cab ltz 24" kmc rims AudioQue 2200 Pioneer AppRadio Alpine mrx f35 4 channel Bose mids and highs Iraggi Alt + stock alt in a DC power dual alternator kit Yellowtop+stock under hood 0 gauge Knu wire Big 3 4 gauge stinger (4 chan wiring) 3 DC 10'' LVL3 with LVL4 parts
Jared420 Posted January 28, 2011 Author Report Posted January 28, 2011 Has anyone experimented with foward fire boxes on the floor like what Im looking for would a foward fire under the seat box sound better than a downfire box? The soundwave would have more room but I guess it wouldnt have anything to load off of. What should I get the best results from? 2012 silverado ext cab ltz 24" kmc rims AudioQue 2200 Pioneer AppRadio Alpine mrx f35 4 channel Bose mids and highs Iraggi Alt + stock alt in a DC power dual alternator kit Yellowtop+stock under hood 0 gauge Knu wire Big 3 4 gauge stinger (4 chan wiring) 3 DC 10'' LVL3 with LVL4 parts
Jared420 Posted January 30, 2011 Author Report Posted January 30, 2011 Also if foward firing is a good option would adding polyfill to the box help any? or will the loading be an issue and foward wont work well ? 2012 silverado ext cab ltz 24" kmc rims AudioQue 2200 Pioneer AppRadio Alpine mrx f35 4 channel Bose mids and highs Iraggi Alt + stock alt in a DC power dual alternator kit Yellowtop+stock under hood 0 gauge Knu wire Big 3 4 gauge stinger (4 chan wiring) 3 DC 10'' LVL3 with LVL4 parts
