Awesome. I wish more people did what you do. Competing is just like, or as far as I am concerned, better that just classes and videos.

People learn to handle a no shit loaded weapon on the move. That is a huge step from learning where the safety isn't (yup, isn't).

I recommend it to anyone who likes to shoot. It's not for someone picking up a guns and trying it the first time but it sure is a lot of fun and really beats poking holes in paper

Hope the gear contributed to your goal brother, maybe a tenth here and there.

Congratulations man.

I've actually gone to bladetech comp pouches. I still use he ones I had you do but the race pouches are what I've been using for matches. They are cut out so I can get my pointer finger all the way to the tip of the mag for indexing.

Gotta use what works. What kind of belt and holster are you running?

Right now it's a 5.11 double sided riggers belt like we use in our cammies and a bladetech holster as well. Depending on what my club decides to do for affiliation next year I may change it up.

Where would you recommend starting in trying to train to get to a point if being able to compete? I would say I am effectively accurate for self defense but by no means am I at a point where I could compete.

Do you have:

Pistol

Holster with decent retention

Mag pouches

Belt?

Have you ever worked on drawing and firing from a. Holster?

If so find a match and go. Let those who are range officers know it's your first man ever. And go slow. Don't expect to set the world on fire.

Go slow be safe and see if you like it. If you do you'll start to see what you need to work on and can wrk from there

You'll also need at least three mags for idpa and five for uspsa with the pouches that go with it.
