TeamHT Posted January 31, 2011 Report Posted January 31, 2011 Disturbed priest....a statement is the same as advice in this context. Clipping can cause thermal conditions that the woofer is not able to handle. I distinctly remember a thread created a week or so by the OP asking about wiring different voicecoil configured subs and a resounding don't do it was issued, not by me. I briefly read it and moved on. And now here you are asking for more advicr when the original advice given was rejected and now your sub is no longer working. I find this to be repetitive and useless...you're obviously going to ignore any advice given. Sad...poor equipment Tell me...does this smell like chloroform to you?

Forevrbumpn Posted February 1, 2011 Report Posted February 1, 2011 Dude, I tested this same theory that you did. I did it as a test, and because I had extra woofers, and didn't care- I had 3- Dual 6ohm woofers I made I was trying sooo hard to stay around 4 ohm I did this by wiring the two D6 at a 1.5ohm load. I added the 3rd woofer as a 12 ohm load, wired it all in the mix The problem is here, the woofers each get different power from the odd ball wired up wrong. So say the ones wired at 1.5ohm had about 500rms, while the 3rd had maybe 100 rms or so. Yet, the one wired wrong moved the most. It got clipped,l and mechanically damaged I did this all with a cheap crunch 1000w amp. So, yes, your bad, you wired it wrong, and you paid the price There is a ton of help on SMD, don't be scared to ask At least my method was out of boredom, and the fact I had spares at the toss of a hat I have a ritual called "terminator". I crouch in the shower in the "naked terminator" pose. With eyes closed I crouch for a minute and visualize either Arnie or the guy from the 2nd movie. I then start to hum the T2 theme. Slowly I rise to a standing position and open my eyes. It helps me get through my day. The only problem is if the shower curtain sticks to my terminator leg. It sorta ruins the fantasy.
Forevrbumpn Posted February 1, 2011 Report Posted February 1, 2011 whatever the hell I wired the 3 at, it was around 5 ohms at the end, maybe they were different coils than Iam thinking, it was I have a ritual called "terminator". dangerick18 Posted February 1, 2011 Report Posted February 1, 2011 Double check your banana plugs. Use a flat head to get the sides to jut out more so they fit more securely. I thought I had blown a Type-R recently (in the past I've blown 2 of them lol), and the resistance wasn't measuring right until I realized the banana plugs were slipping out. Not only that but it also used to randomly sound shakey as if there was bad ground. Now the sound is smooth as butter.
corey0928 Posted February 1, 2011 Report Posted February 1, 2011 What amp? Where's the gain set at? The bass boost? Is the box ported? What's the boxed tuned at? Wheres the crossover settings at?
