Ralkyon
Bumping, as usual. AC up on full blast, and my car starts making this hideous grinding noise. I got my food, and then turned everything off and went to go let the engine cool down. Did all that, drove home with no noise. Yay. So anyway, I pulled into my driveway, turned my stereo stuff up to the normal Bumping volume, and no noise. I had the AC off, so I believe it's just due to excess electrical strain. I'm thinking about doing the Big 3 to see if that will conquer this noise, but I'd like some input from you guys first. Big 3 necessary? Any other fixes to this? 2000 Jeep Cherokee Sport 4.OL In-Line 6 (117A Alternator) Audiopipe 1500.1D Audioque HDC3 15'' (Only seeing 950W cause I had to wire at 2 OHMs) Sony HU 2 Sets of Rockford Fosgate Punch P152's. I have about 4' of 1/0 AWG Power Cable and 2.5' of 1/0 Ground (Not sure if there's a distinct difference between Power and Ground cable) left from my install. The Alternator is DIRECTLY below the Battery, so I would assume this would be enough for the Big 3, right?

skittlesRgood
so you had alt whine through the speakers or your engine bay made a grinding noise? voltage shouldnt make any grinding. maybe its your ac pump? Ralkyon
Red Top under the hood, so I don't think it's that. It was a grinding from the Engine Bay. Freaked me the **** out when I first heard it.

Ralkyon
I'm in Charleston SC. It was like, 75 yesterday I think. And if it's an AC Comp Clutch or a Bearing in the Compressor, am I able to fix that myself? I have a -somewhat- limited knowledge of cars, but obviously not a lot. Replace the compressor but no, you have to discharge the ac system, something you can't do with limited knowledge, an expert should handle that.
