so my buddy says he bought a sub off a friend, he brings it over and the cone is froze. I can kinda push up/down on it but its pretty stiff. I check the coils, perfect, look at the coil, not burnt. I notice the magnet... or the protector( whatevers on the outside) is cracked.

He calls the guy he bought it from and he says he will fix it in 5 min. . . Takes a hammer to the magnet, beats the shit outta it, and its free and works perfect. he said that why he stopped buying fi... i was speachless, i thought it was a mushroomed former. Nonetheless my friend paid 290 bucks for a fully loaded fi bl 15, which knowing it is effed up was a rip off. any thoughts?

taking a hammer to it, sounds like a fix to everything (not). With a cracked magnet, i would think that was a little overpriced to see how the stock bl is 294.

that was my thought exactly. I dont have any pictures, i was just wondering what makes it happen. I know if he plays it real hard it will just stick sometimes. I do remember my buddies kicker that over excured and we dropped it on the magnet about 4' off the ground and it started working perfectly.

im not familiar with the inside of a woofer to understand what could cause this. thats all.

Cracked? You better get that checked and your buddy should had inspect it good to prevent what he is going through.

i know that ken (forevrbumpn) has a way to realign magnets but if its cracked idk what you would do to fix it. thats shitty that a guy would sell something like that for close to retail.

It was probably dropped. Magnet shifted and was keeping it from moving freely. His hammering probably just temporarily realigned it. Tell your friend he's a dumb fuck and kick him in the dick.

X2 sounds like a shifted pole piece, if your friend wants it fixed the only person ive heard being able to repair that is dave at psi
