Sean 371 Tahoe Door Pods

Recommended Posts

This will be a bit of a long build log, because I currently don't have the components, I'm just fabbing up a good strong base for the moment, but I thought I'd share.

Nylon rope trick that I learned from GP2k2 before I even joined SMD (and 1-2 more layers of glass):

I'm letting it cure right now, hopefully it'll be flex proof enough to stretch a t shirt over a speaker ring in a week or two. if not i'll keep glassing!

This is only driver's side, still gotta pull the passenger side.

A couple links to some box builds:

Tahoe Box 1, Tahoe Box 2, Nissan Titan, VW GTI,

Mini-Bump, Hummer H2, Ford F-150

My own car builds (current setup --- under construction):

thanks guys and yea it better be strong, i dont want this thing to warp on me when i go to stretch it haha. There's one corner that didn't get glass, so I have to go give that a few more layers.

I might have to cut out the middle of it for the magnet, but should I try and keep it enclosed? As in, sort of make a bucket for the magnet so that it's still an airtight enclosure?

Yes. def keep it as an enclosure. if not, air will escape out the back and make your doors rattle.

its the same thing that happened wit mine. i need to seal the backs of my panels i built.

K cool.

Here's a pic of a build that mine will somewhat look like. The only difference is that mine will have the tweet in there too. The xover will be mounted somehow behind the door panel, there's plenty of room. Just to clarify, the pods in this picture aren't mine.

Tim how do you cut your tweeter rings? I've never glassed in components so that's a little new for me.

New updates. I used two existing holes that were used to attach the tweeter, and had to drill one of my own. But this should be enough to secure the pod.

I had to fiberglass the bolts in place because i wont be able to get to them once I start stretching material.
