  1. 12 is a little too small, assuming a ~5 foot length. 10 would suffice, unless you've got some kind of stupid long run.
  2. Here is the beast that hooked me on teh power.... That's not mine... mine has long since been traded off for something else but, mine was mounted just like that under the dash of a '70 El Camino SS. It was driving a Cerwin Vega 10" woofer with the groundbreaking new technology called dual voice coils, along with a pair of Kenwood 6X9s, a pair of 6" full range drivers I robbed out of an old Soundesign home stereo system and a pair of Realistic super tweets, all of which were mounted in a wedge box behind the seat. Being the experimental sort that I was and having heard that a completely sealed enclosure was the best, I painted the cones on the 6" speakers with rubber cement so no air could leak through the paper cones. For a 15 year old kid with no money to spend, I still think it was a decent system, although I'm sure it sounded like shit relative to today's OEM sund systems. :-|. And the source for this powerhouse was this little gem: Traded a Kenwood half din with a digital PLL tuner for this one, because I didn't want to cut the dash on the Camino. Those were the not so good old days. :-) EDIT: I just noticed that the pic is a Punch 100. Mine was a Punch 40 but the chassis is the same. I'd have given my left nut for a Punch 100, lol.
  3. This has already been said, sorta... that woofer has an EBP of 98. 50 and below do well in a sealed box and a 10-15% variation +/- 50 will work in both. Putting that speaker in a sealed box would be like putting it inside a safe and playing it. And an FYI. TO find the EBP (efficiency bandwidth product) divide Fs by Qes.
  4. Please email us for faster updates - but yes the entire order was shipped and we still have some left of each size/coil for sale. Glad I saw this here before the weekend! Not to worry, you're all set and that tracking number will work for the entire order you placed! Thanks for choosing Skar Audio and enjoy your weekend! -Kevin Yep, tracking number is all good now and I suppose I've got a few skars coming my way. Thanks for the response Kevin. I look forward to testing these speakers!
  5. I ordered four tens, two twelves and two fifteens within ten minutes after this post went up and now I get an email telling me not to email the email address you told me to email.... WTAF? EDIT: Well... color me stupid for not looking at the date of the OP. So now what happens with the $634.00 I sent you guys? Go easy on me.... I'm not very smart, after all. :-) EDIT Again... So now I've been sent shipping confirmation. So I reckon the sale was still going and inventory was sufficient to fill the order? That's great... but I would like know for sure. If nothing else, could someone at least pop in and tell me how much of a dumbass I am?
  6. I think you meant smaller diameter pulley.... If you're using the larger diameter manufacturer's pulley, the new alternator won't spin as fast and thus, won't generate its rated current. That said, it will still out perform the factory alternator. What's the motivation for using the old pulley? Is the current belt too long and you don't want to buy a shorter one? Just curious...
  7. This car presents a problem in that there is a battery pack that blocks the rear of the back seats and I don't much care to build a cabinet that only fires into the trunk. I've toyed with 4th and 6th order bandpass designs but I can't seem to get any satisfaction from any of the WinISD programs with respect to the T&S numbers Sundown publishes. I've pretty much ruled out 6th order and while a 4th order would be nice, I don't like anything I've seen with this woofer from the aforementioned program. I've used WinISD for about six years with much success but for whatever reason, it doesn't like the T&S numbers of this driver. Maybe it's just me? I'm open to that possibility. In any event, I'm asking for opinions and, especially, experiences with this type of car. This is my son's car and I want it to rock because he rocks!
  8. Hi everyone, my name is BB and I'm a bassaholic. I've been addicted for thirty years and I don't know how to stop. I've spent short bursts of time away from bass sporadically over the years and unlike the twelve step brochures say, it's never been more enjoyable to live life without bass. I feel empty and incomplete without bass. When I don't have bass in my life, I become irritable and argumentative with my wife and friends. Well, with my wife for sure... I don't really have any friends other than my wife, because true friends encourage the consumption of bass and even sometimes bring some bass of their own to the party. Even when their bass isn't as good as mine, it's still nice to consume someone else's bass instead of always having to be the guy who supplies all the bass for the party. Sadly, I've been that guy who shares his bass with everyone and no one seems to think to bring some bass by my place when they drop in to visit. And not only do they not bring bass to the party... most of them don't even acknowledge the high quality of the bass I supply them for free! So now I've decided to embrace my addiction and seek comfort among other addicts. And while I realize that in doing so, I'm entering a den of sin that even the most twisted of sadists would shudder to endeavor punishment of their slaves with, I feel confident that I can find solace here, amongst a rag tag grouping of the strange, the stranger and the strangest of masochists who choose above all, the self abuse of hearing damage and hateful looks from neighbors over being considered "normal" and living an empty, purposeless life of mediocre sound, money in the bank and a place in the trunk to put groceries bought with the aforementioned money. But seriously, I've always loved music and I tried to learn to play the piano, the six string, the bass and even the harmonica when I was young. I failed miserably at all of them, so I learned to play the "radio" better than everyone around me. Fortunately, not too many people want to be around me, so that means I was a success. For more boring minutiae about me, see my profile. I think I wrote a novel length borefest there. Otherwise, I'm happy to be here and I'm sure you all will be happy if I leave. :-) But I won't.
