Maybe take them to a shop that does tail lights and have them spray a very light coat on the headlights. It'll darken it up alittle bit but still light the road up in front of you.

I just waxed mine. Heard of a neighbor using a Clear Laquer and it looked great. But I tried it on another set of lights I had and had to throw them away So yeah I guess i'd stay away from clear unless you know what your doing.

My old lights I wet sanded with 1000, 1500, and 2000. Used a powerball and buffed them with Rubbing compond to get any fine scratches the 2000 couldnt get. Then wax or you can put some kind of Clear coat on them. They looked alot better when it was done.
