Here are 3 vids of my old setup from the week I joined SMD, then I saw what you guys do and got started on the new build, still in progress! It's 4 Hifonics 12"s in a 5 ft sealed box, 2 chambers, powered by a 6 yr old Hifonics Zeus 400w mono amp, all the mids and highs were passive crossed and run off the head unit. Either the Alpine 9856 or Jensen 9312, both with Ipod. A general tour and mids and highs...Metallica S&M Live Subs movin....Jeezy, Air Forces Hatch buzzin, it didn't really flex, just vibrated pretty good despite being covered with edead UE Hope the links work, my first time posting vids from photobucket.

Heres a pic of the selenium tweet and 6", parts express crossover, for size comparing.

The selenium horns are huge on the backside, keep that it mind when considering them for the doors, and the Selenium 6" is not a midbass, it only does midrange. I run both in my wall side panels, aimed into the seatback to tame them, and they do get loud, and yes thay can get harsh, but you can easily control them with an EQ setting.

I would think more would be accidentally deployed during installation of stereo, than from the bass! I think think they are crush sensors, not vibration.

Looks like the new BTLs are broken in just fine! ..and anytime we get to see more Hoopty demos, thats a good thing too. That guy sitting in the middle facing the tunnel is just askin for some pain!! What is he, crazy?!

Thanks Logan, maybe King will post his experience. I never looked for extra batteries on the F250 build. I got a message from my friend who is a retired pro installer/judge. He said that IASCA used to require some type of isolator in multi battery setups back in the day, and that the Ford solenoid was popular, but newer technology has since surpassed that. Basically an isolator setup. I originally wanted the capability of running my stereo with the car off mainly for multimedia. Now I have built it with an extra amp, 2 batteries, and 4 extra subs, so my plan is to never run it without the engine on anymore.

Thanks guys! Had I'd known, I would of ordered less 1/0, oh well, I got enough for the Big 3 now, too! Another related question. A stereo installer over on the PT forums told me that there is a Ford starter solenoid that I could install in the positive wire between the batteries that acts like a switch. Supposedly it disconnects the rear battery from the front battery when the stereo is not on, allowing a better charge for the front battery or something, and only charges the rear battery too when the stereo is on. Anyone familiar with this??? Told him unless he could give me the exact Ford part number and a better explanation, I wasn't willing to try it. He is a well expereinced installer, but I don't understand the theory behind it. Is it really just like a dual battery isolator? (which I won't need, as I will not run the stereo without the engine running.) He runs a second Kinetik battery in his PT so I like to check in with him for any PT specific issues. Thanks again guys! I will be posting here in the wiring section for another week or so, working out the details, and getting all the wiring into the car, so I can get the sucker going, and post you guys some vids!!

Ok guys, so I'm finally getting to the wiring part of my build, and I have searched SMD and the web, and also have a local pro installer friend to mentor me. I have a Kinetik HC1400 for under the hood and an HC600 in back. 1/0 is in the mail from knu... Question is about grounding the smaller battery. Everyone here runs a ground wire all the way back to the front battery, and some also add a ground to the chassis right where the second battery sits. Now I am hearing that if I run a ground all the way back up front, I run the risk of a ground loop, and inviting noise into my setup, and should consider just grounding the second battery on it's own in the back? Help...

To each his own..... I had a smaller company send me two HID kits about 1 month apart, they were moving to a new facility and must've got confused, after making sure that they did not charge me for the second kit, I called them and sent it back to them.

If you are gonna set off the alarm slimjim it instead of breaking the glass! And if you do leave the batt connected and just let it cycle through the alarm trigger , remember that with the battery connected, it's gonna re-arm when the horn stops blowing.

I'm currently testing the 4" Daytons in my pillars by powering them off my head unit with passive crossovers and they get plenty loud. Not sure of the mounting depth on the 6.5" though. Great speakers!

I'm likin The Cult, She sells sanctuary, and The Fixx, Red skies at night. But for real SQ, I would probably use some unheard of stuff that is really recorded well: Lauren Christy, Michael McDonald, or even that new Ashes Divide.

Details like that are between you and Chicken. I think the mesh looks great! When the whole hatch is complete, it will look even better.

For the money you would spend on 3 component sets, why not go 3-way with a 6.5 midbass, 6.5 or smaller midrange and a tweeter in each front door, glassed? That would free up some more watts for the midbass, too. You could get everything from parts-express. ...you did post this in the SQ section....

Well, I did post a link to SMD and the Hoopty build log over on the PT Cruiser forums, maybe a few of them wandered by. Congrats, man! ...If you build it, they will come!

No offense to RF and whoever builds their stuff, but mark my words, someday in the future you and chicken are gonna be at some big show with the Hoopty, and everyone is gonna run from the RF car over to see the Hoopty, and RF will be thinkin "D***, we shoulda waited on Meade!"
