  1. Great vid OP! Entire roof just looks like it wants to lift off. haha
  2. This one snuck up on everyone- despite of how slowly it is moving. I'm worried about family on the MS Coast and in the Louisiana Bayou.... Everyone down that way, keep informed and buckle down.
  3. Yeah, now I am confused. ;D The short of it is- the Y-Splitter just splits your RCA signal. You would need two (one for the left, one for the right). Then you would have 2 outputs for the left and 2 outputs for the right. How you get them into the amp with male/female ends is up to your application.
  4. If your amps are close enough or stacked, you could get 2 of these: RCA from deck into the Y-Splitters, Y-Splitters into your amps. One for the left channel, one for the right. Or.... you could get 2 of these and 2 more RCAs and 2 RCA butt connectors: RCA out of head unit into left and right butt connecters (female on both ends), then left and right to this Y-Splitter, then run 2 RCAs to each of your amps. Or.... like Tebo and other said, you could get a head unit with front, rear, and subwoofer 4 volt outputs. Maybe around 150-200 retail.
  5. Yep. With fuses! If you do a 2nd battery, you have to fuse both sides between the front and back battery.
  6. You only stress the alternator when you put a very huge load on it. (Say if you drain your battery very hard and then fire off your engine with the battery in the weakened state). I wouldn't think that what amps you gave would kill your OEM Alt unless you drive around on blast. As for batteries, I would start with the largest strongest one under the hood you could fit. I'm not saying brand names, I would just recommend an AGM (Absorbed Glass Matt) battery. (I say this as I run a lead acid, but I will be getting an AGM soon...). If that one doesn't turn out to be strong enough, then maybe get another. At the end of the day, all the batteries in the world won't save you if you can't charge them...
  7. Worth a try. Getcha a good under hood battery. You might have to add another one in the trunk though...
  8. You can do the big 3 and it will help you some, but you will have massive voltage drops. It is going to be hard on your equipment, hard on your vehicle and the OEM alt.
  9. Now that is something you don't see every day. Look at all the space on the board! Thanks for sharing. Get to see the amps dirty bits and whatnot.
  10. With a bit of a bruise too towards the middle of your head. Maybe you walked into the corner of a door or like was said- rolled of the bed and hit the corner of the nightstand. Crazy that you don't remember a thing tho- My grandfather used to box in his sleep after watching boxing on tv. He must have been in a Title match one night because he rolled out of the bed and jacked his head on the nightstand. Were you watching Boxing or MMA earlier per chance?
  11. haha it always baffles me how OEM parts tend to be way fucking better than expensive aftermarket parts Seriously. I mean how?? Crazy thing is that it seems to run even smoother now. It had a tiny studder every once in a while with the MSD, but now with old OEM reliable- smooth as glass. Go figure.
  12. COIL PACK!!!! Pulled off the $$ MSD Performance coil and put in the 23 Year Old original coil... and vroom. Fired right up. Thanks again Zapanater, you were spot on man!
  13. Cool- I will check that first tomorrow. Coil pack is easy... it is just that it happened right after putting in the 2nd alt. Thanks for the help brother.
  14. So... I'm trying to make it to Scrapin' the Coast with my second alternator hooked up. 89 Chevy Astro 2 CS-130 Alternators (both rebuilt with identical kits) Both harnesses from the alts are identical, I just spliced them together- wired parallel. I got the A/C pulled out, new bracket fabbed up and the second alternator in. Got everything wired up, belt on and fired her up- it ran as usual for about 30 seconds at 14.5-14.6 volts (nothing out of the ordinary for a cold start). After running for a few seconds I revved it up once or twice to see what the voltage would do and it stayed the same. Once it dropped back to idle, it ran for about 10 seconds and died. I tried to crank it back up but no dice. I can hear the fuel pump come on when I turn the key. I've checked the fuses (audio charging side as well as the ones under the dash) I've checked the connections on the coil pack and the distributor. I've pulled the power from the battery and let it sit for 10 minutes. Still... no dice. When I pull a plug wire from the distributor (plug or main spark wire from the coil) I get nothing. No fire at all. I hope I haven't fried my ECM. I do have a spare that I can try, but I don't want to try to fry that one if that is what is going on. The coil pack is virtually brand new. Maybe 10 months or so. Anyone with any experience or Ideas? I need Help!
  15. Brrr! Glad you got it before it got out of hand. That is a baaaad feeling, I know. I had that happen once to a tiny tiny wire. Scared the crap out of me. X2 Fuse Everything! Glad you caught it in time.
  16. Woah. Dats a lot-o-woofas! So you doing 2 charging systems? One for the truck and 18v for the system?
