dex-cool last longer but when it goes bad it goes bad. if you maintain the cooling like you should you shouldn't have a problem.. the other issue is that people use tap water not distilled water like they should and when they top it off they use water only and not 50/50 mix. its user error most the times.. i have dex-cool with over 100k miles and not blown gaskets

yeah, distilled water, after a really good flush. but cooling systems are often overlooked. Who really can afford buying enough distilled water to flush the system with, then refill with proper anti-freeze/distelled water mix and rust inhinbitor? its borderline OCD. For an 87 ford van. i would flush with tap, refill with good ol green antifreeze and add tap water. It should last for years.

tap water contains minerals that fucks up everything.. distilled water is $1 a gallon. way cheaper than replacing any part of your cooling system
