  1. Just bought the Singer 370 hairpin. Now the wait to see if I leave before it gets here....

  2. Yep just couldn't help my self! Going first thing in the morning to buy another 1962 Chevy Biscayne Wagon to make into a Tow-Pig for Bis-Kwik on them out of state show's!

Not a problem! Thank you for the great sale, making it so I couldn't put off buying deadener any longer. Next year after deployment I'll have to get some of the other goodies to go with it. Definitely going to need some CCF and MLV to take the cake of getting these doors a little quieter ;)

  4. Second Singer hairpin, or shit ton of second skin.... I'm thinking get the second singer because I'll need more alt once I hook up the two 2-channels. And I'll upgrade from the 3.5k one day I suppose.... Thoughts?

Thank you, I hope I do. Selling the leftovers didn't even cross my mind. That will be good.

I have q-mat (obviously not as good as SS) on the front doors and roof, should I do a 40 pounder of b stock for the floor, back wheel wells, and rear hatch? Or would a smaller pack be ok? No need for 100% coverage of CLD I don't think, unless someone says different for good reason

  7. four AA Chaos 15's on my SQ-3500 non-walled is what i'm thinking. leave for deployment, save save save all the monies, come home, buy second skin, tear apart interior, etc., finish HAT front stage, buy four chaos', build new enclosue, rock out. i'm estimating $2.5-3k

How come? What would be the difference in a daily on 3.5k? I ask because I don't know.

      Karkov: close to a year.

Broke: I know I will. I always do :( I'll see something new and shiny that I don't really need but buy anyways. Time to count numbers and multiply by two ;)

  9. i don't like how on PC if i click on a thread, it starts at the beginning instead of the last post in that thread i saw, like it does on mobile. SMD mobile > SMD PC

got it. thank you. i only use mobile when i'm home. but i'm kind of unable to receive cell service on the ship, so PC is the only way to go. appreciate it!!!

  13. What can I use to mount the L4 to the pillar baffle without tearing up the MDF from mounting and unmounting for test fitting and mockups? I feel like after a couple times of screwing in and out that the threads would no longer hold it in place.

    1. reedal

      reedal

I'll give the threaded inserts a shot... Just worried that the MDF might be too soft for it since its counter sunk to almost 1/4"

You have the screws that hold the speaker itself in place going through the pillar? Or the screws for the mounting rings/baffle?

  15. warm weather this weekend = get shit done

    1. reedal

      reedal

Indeed. Was gonna pull the seats and carpet and run some wiring today (low-mid 50's) but looked at the weekend weather and saw high 60's and that sounds much better to me. Procrastination at its finest

And then I said to hell with the used L3, I'll get the pair of L4 BNIB for $50 more. Now to just get the grilles for them all.

The L3 is going to be the last pair I buy, I just haven't pulled the trigger yet on a set I found for a decent price.

  19. How much do custom tweeter pods cost to get done? have one quote but my try elsewhere.

    1. reedal

      reedal

Best bet is to get multiple quotes from different shops around you, look at the work they've done because they should have a portfolio (if not then don't have them do it), and pick the one who does the most quality work for the price you're willing to pay. Personally I think $100 sounds fair for both sides, and you can get an upholstery shop to wrap them with what you want for cheaper than the shop that made them will probably

  20. Working on that dash piece still. Taking my time (which is hard because I'm impatient and excited for the finish of it), and every time I sand it, primer it and look for blemishes, I find more that I didn't see before. Round 4 is done, hopefully the last time.

    1. reedal

      reedal

I don't mind making pods that I can remove whenever I want that form to the factory speaker location/grille contours, but I'm definitely scurred to cut my panels like a lot of people do. Because worst comes to worst the way I do it, I have holes in the panel where no one will ever see it whether I have the factory grill or my pods. If I cut the rest of the door, well, I don't want to buy a new or a used one.

This is probably the best "body work" or fabrication I've done since I started. Which was may/June time frame last year. So it's a learning experience still. It's frustrating to see imperfections, fix them, spray, dry, and find more imperfections, but I guess it's all part of the process. Hopefully the more practice I get in the less imperfections in the future on other things.

  25. The HAT L8's I bought last night are the v1's, not the newer v2's. Same as the L3's I'm looking into purchasing. But I can't seem to find any L1v1's. Damn my OCD for wanting matching things. It's already going to be out of whack having everything SoundQubed except speakers once I have a full front stage completed.
