  1. Actually, it that truck should have a 5 rib belt, you might have been accidentally counting the "peaks" instead of the "valleys". That will help some, but it will still slip untill you mount a backside idler pulley.
  2. Thanks for the props. The Ford units are some of our best performing, the 250 amp Rhinos usually dyno out around 290 amps. They have the strongest idle performance too, over 165 amps at only 800 RPM.
  3. Untill the end of Febuary, all Fullsize Ford cars and trucks can be outfitted with a MechMan 250 amp Rhino series alternator for only $299 (Reg. $399) We rate these at 250 amps, but they regularly dyno out 280+ amps with over 160 amps at 800rpm!!! Like always, these puppies are built with 100% NEW (no rebuilt junk parts) components, and includes a 1 year warranty and a proof of performance dyno sheet. Order with me directly, and Ill even pay for the shipping!! 1-888-MECHMAN ext. 7 Please e-mail me all inquiries at [email protected] Thanks! Matt
  4. 250 amp Rhino series bolt-in kit = $499 Same day shipping included Give me a call directly at 1-888-MECHMAN ext. 7 Thanks Matt
  5. Getting the amperage is easy, we have a custom machined large case housing that will bolt right in. Here's the problem- A 4 groove belt with only about 60 degrees of belt wrap is going to slip like crazy if you get any kind of load on it. The most you could even think of running on that pulley setup would be 200 amps, and even that would more than likely slip under a load. The main advantage, would be picking up a lot of current at idle, as a 140 amp CS130 won't have very good output at true idle speeds. The MLA will work just fine with our unit, I can do a 200 amp custom machined large case unit for only $299 and it will bolt right in. You can work with me directly at 1-888-MECHMAN ext. 7 , [email protected] Thanks Matt
  6. Your choice of 3 large case conversion units. All of them include a dyno sheet, are made in the US with 100% new parts, (not remanufactured) and come with a one year warranty. Istallation is a direct bolt in and plug in and typically takes .5-1 hour. 150 amp Dynamo XL = $375 (almost full output between 500 and 800 rpm) 200 amp ProPower = $449 (125 amps at 800 rpm) 250 amp Rhino = $499 (150 amps at 800 rpm) Let me know if you need any other specs!!! 1-888-MECHMAN ext. 7 Thanks Matt
  7. Glad you got it taken care of!! Thanks again for your buisiness. Matt
  8. Yeah, that works just fine. We will supply you with the necessary plug and module to wire them together. Matt
  9. a slightly shorter belt will solve the tensioning issue. If you are having any other problems, Dennis will rectify them for you immeadiatly, just call him at 1-888-MECHMAN. We sell tons of those units, and a shorter belt is all that should be required for a bolt-in installation. Thanks Matt
  10. From now untill the end of January, we are going to be offering our full competition 250+ amp Rhino series GM alternators for only $299!!! (Reg. $399) Add this killer price to our free shipping for SMD members promo, and you have the best GM alternator you can buy in your hands for only $299!! Unlike our competitors, our units are built with 100% new parts, not re-used stock junk. This price include the solid copper rectifier assymbly, oversized positive and negative ground studs, dyno sheet, and one year "hassle-free" gaurantee. These units crank out an HONEST 150 amps at 800 RPM!!! We are the only company to include a dyno sheet with every unit we sell! These units are individually hand built right here in the USA. If you've been on the fence about getting a powerfull alternator for your 1965-2008 GM truck or SUV, (most models) nows the time to save big bucks!! Order's must be taken over the phone in order to recieve discount pricing. 1-888-MECHMAN ext. 7 Take a look at the difference between our alternators supposed "high output" alternators from other companies! 11. yeah we keep those in stock. Unlike our competitors, we use 100% new heavy duty parts. Both of our units for that truck come standard with adjustable voltage, so you can set your charging voltage as high as you like. 250 amp StreetBeat Large case = 150 amps at 800 rpm, Extra heavy duty rectifier, 1"x3/8" oversize power and ground studs for multiple runs of cable, baffled fan for better cooling. = $399 320 amp Comp series Large case = 60 amps at 800 rpm, all the same specs otherwise, $449 Both units include a dyno sheet and a one year "hassle-free" gaurantee. (warrantys performed in 48 hours or less) Give me a call if you need any other specs! Thanks Matt 1-888-MECHMAN ext. 7
  12. What type of vehicle is it for, and what style of alternator is it? (what family alternator is it)
  13. We've worked long and hard for the past month or so to give www.mechman.com a complete face-lift! Check out the tech articles section for tons of instal pics, customer reviews, even an alternator simulator to "test drive" other high output alternators against mechman large case units. Of course, any feedback or suggestions are welcome. Videos to come soon!! Enjoy!!!!! www.mechman.com
  14. FYI, our 170 amp large case units usually put out over 200 amps, which is way too much resistance to drive with a V-belt. When we sold you the unit, we let you know that belt slip will always be the limiting factor on a single v-belt application. The primary reason that it won't slip on startup now, is because the stock pulley is larger in diameter. This means the overspeeding of the crankshaft pulley on startup is less abrupt because the alternator is turning more slowly. Also, you will have more surface area contacting the pulley because of the increased circumference, and better belt wrap because of the increased diameter. All of these things are good, except for that you won't have as much ouput at idle because you have slowed the alternator down. Like I said, belt slip is always an issue with an alternator that big driven by a single v-belt. I imagine that's why you asked the question on a public forum instead of just calling our tech line.
  15. We have just released a new kit for Volvo 700 an 900 series vehicles that is pretty slick. It has a really low introductory price that won't last long. It installs in about 15 minutes, and even accepts the stock alternator plug. (if 14.7v charging is desired) It comes in three series - 150 amp Dynamo XL = $249 200 amp ProPower = $299 250 amp Rhino series = $399 I was amazed at the difference, and because the customer was local, we were even able to dyno the stock unit and do a comparison graph of the improved ouptut. Here's a shot of the old Bosch unit. These same units are used on many European vehicles. It actually had decent output at really low rpm, but even our Dynamo XL outperformed it at every RPM. Here's a shot of the MechMan unit bolted into place. The housing is custom machined so that it literally just falls into place, and bolts right up with the included adapter bracket. A slightly shorter belt is required to keep belt tension where it needs to be. Anything beyond a 200 amp load has a tendancy to slip a single v-belt, but luckily the Volvo has pretty good belt wrap. We were not able to slip the belt, even at 220+ amp loads. Of course, we installed the 1/0 Power and ground cables necessary to carry the 250+ amps worth of current. Some zip ties made for safe routing of the cables away from any hot or moving engine parts, and we even heat shrinked the stock charge wire so that it would not short to ground. The necessary adapter plug is included with all models, but is not used when the adjustable voltage feature is desired. This customer wanted roughly a 15 volt charging voltage, so with the simple turn of a screw, we set it to 15.15 volts. The power windows, headlights, wiper motors and everything else worked faster and brighter. The customer said it felt like a different car! Here's the direct comparison between the stock unit and the Rhino unit. Pretty big difference... Both units were tested at 77 degrees F.
  16. These batteries are now SOLD OUT. Thanks everyone!
  17. We can ship it within 24 hours. I have some 250's on the shelf, or we can do a custom build ASAP, just give us a call. 1-888-MECHMAN thanks Matt
  18. We do not have a kit for that, but we can definitely set you up with the alternators and wiring if you want to make a bracket or buy someone else's.
