strapping 2 1500s
95_1500 replied to F1rtyfwe's topic in Sundown Audio - GREAT Amps/Subs! GREAT Customer Service!
Wasn't trying to "prove" you wrong or anything i was just sayin your amp wasnt seeing .5 with that box Just email Jacob on Monday and go from there -
4-10s has about 39 inches less cone area than 2-15s As far as saving room it depends on the vehicle and what you're willing to sacrifice (full trunk, wall etc)

Send Jacob an email about it, they may still be strappable. I wasnt aware they changed board layouts from old heatsink to new but i wouldnt try it until you hear it from him. *strapping at 1ohm is .5 on each amp so if you like your warranty id get a d1 or d4 -
If its a full one theyre usually sold in 15'

Wow im diggin that console/dash creation with the mids in there! Looks great! -
If you have something like 4+ runs to the rear then I can see going straight from alternators back being an advantage but I think you're fine. Agree with Treo ^^

So what would you think

All depends on the tuning... Same as navi said notes from high 30s - high 40s make my nose itch and vision blur a bit but since my box is tuned to 31 lows just flex shit Sat in a blazer before that did 58-59 on the meter not 10 minutes earlier but it was tuned high so it didnt have any affect on me.. Now Joe's (00sdime00) dime back in the day when he had BTLs and T4ks just about ripped my fuckin head off cuz it hit the lows at such high numbers, was like a hurricane in that bitch.. and that was when one BTL was blown... A lot of things come into play -
Yeah thats right Connect everything just like that, then once its all in run your wires from each crossover to where the amp is. Then now is where you will wire it like you were wiring two SVC subs. You have two wires for each side (2 + and 2 -) which will get connected in parallel and inserted into the corresponding channel (both left side + wires go into the left channel + and both left side - go into the left channel -) Then repeat for right side sets edit: looked at the wrong page

^^ yes a bad ground can cause a problem with any amp but the fact that he has bass boost all the way up with gain halfway pretty much is a giveaway for clipping... i dont think that sony HU has more than 2v preouts so the gain isnt a problem but a 12db bass boost on anything will clip rather easily especially above half volume on the HU the only thing is though, I'm having this issue where it keeps cutting out (protect) when i turn my headunit up past 20/50 when the song hits hard =[ any ideas? This is my argument -
Its kinda small... screen shot with dual monitors FTL right click save as, open with windows picture viewer or w/e and zoom in to read it.. basically wire everything like you normally would, but connect + to + and - to - from two different wires that go from the crossovers to the amp in the amp terminals

Turn bass boost all the way down and reset your gain... most likely its going into protect bc youre clipping the hell out of it -
Best thing to do when ppl are ignorant assholes like this (no offense since hes your friend) is tell him how to parallel the alpines and still let him bridge the channels. Not only will he STILL not be as loud as you but his amp will fry within a few months if not days (took my audiobahn a4002 @ 2 ohm bridged 6 months to die)

Its kinda a whatever you prefer situation.. When I just had 1 run of 1/0 i ran through the firewall under the door sill. When I put a D3100 in the back and decided to upgrade to 2 runs I ran it under the truck on top of the framerail and up through the floorboard. Many people have done upwards of 5 runs of positive and negative (total of 10 wires) under the carpet with no problems.. I think its easier to run it underneath along a framerail but its just a preference. Either way is fine..

Yes.. Think of the stock wire as a guide showing you where to run the bigger wires -

You just add the bigger wire along with the stock wire. By "charge" wire i assume you mean from alt to batt + -

Yeah do the big 3 and add the 680 youll be fine with just 750 watts -
What do I need?

^^ agreed.. Do the big 3 and put the biggest XS batt you can fit to replace stock batt and you should be fine
