  1. i watched the first 4 seasons back to back took an entire week of doing nothing else. so rumor is, sayid is jacob, locke is jacob's mysterious enemy, and claire is roussou. theory is that temple water doesnt bring you back to life, it just infuses a new soul into the current body. prepare for epic sayid v. locke battle for power.
  2. I know some engine guru will say i'm wrong, but more or less, if you double rpm you about double air intake, and therefore fuel consumption. theres alot of variables involved (fuel maps, turbos, carb/injection, altitude, etc) spending 10 seconds racing up to 60, getting the car up to 5000rpm, is like driving a whole mile calmly driving at 75 where the engine is at 3000rpm vs 55 where its at 1500, youre basically doubling consumption for a less than 50% speed gain.. google hypermiling...those people basically take driving like a granny to the extreme, but alot of the stuff they do, normal people can do too. some of those nuts get 50-70mpg out of normal cars and 100-200mpg out of hybrids
  3. you can drive like a wuss :/ driving habits have more of an effect on mpg than the car. I've seen people get higher averages in an 8 cylinder bmw than a prius. driving a beemer like a grandma gets better mpg than a prius driven like mario andretti. I know my car gets the ballpark of 9mpg when i drive like an ass, but 20city and 25+highway if i keep the revs under 2000 (and that includes pulling away from lights...) my dad had a pathfinder that he boosted his highway mpg from 18 to 24 just by dropping his speed from 70 to 55. (hes that guy that tracks EVERYTHING about his cars) drive more conservatively, get a tonneau cover, inflate the tires properly and make sure everything is aligned (squishy tires=more resistance=more power needed, same goes if they are out of alignment), and you'll see a boost. I run my tires 3-5psi over on roadtrips and I definately notice a bit more in my tank after my trip. (make the same trip from my house in li to school upstate like 10 times a year, so i kinda know where it should be at...)
  4. im guessing if youre saying 28 inches, you have something along the lines (arguments sake) of a 20 inch side (inside the L) with 8 inches along the back of the box. which means the outside of the box would be something like 24.75 long (20+4+.75 for wood) if thats the case, the center would actually be 22 (full length of inside+2 inches to get to center of the bend) and the other side would be 10 (again, 8+2) so yes, 32. if you were measuring the outside (of the inside of the port...) it would actually be 24x12, or 36. in this case you'd subtract 4, again because you're trying t center the measurement. only pic i could find, ignore his little 45deg calc unless you're doing that too, but this should give you an idea
  5. draw your port measure down the center!!! say your port is 4 in wide, you will basically be adding 4 inches of length compared to the inside(shorter) wall, 2 inches on each length (cuz its 2 inches to get to the center) if you put up a sketch with dimensions im sure someone could double check it for you
  6. 250watts shouldnt make any difference to your vehicle check all your settings and connections. and yes an alt fixes the problem, not covering the symptoms
  7. each battery you add needs about 10 amps extra just to float it. the issue comes in where you drain that battery down (too much draw, not enough amps from alt) and the alt works double hard to charge both batteries and play the system and keep the car working. H.O. alt FIRST batteries SECOND caps if you compete in sq and need to smooth out some ripples, otherwise their useless
  8. well depending on the car/subs/orientation/transfer function/etc you can usually only effeciently play about 5 hz below your tuning freq before hard roll off/unloading. so if you want to play 22hz the highest I would tune is 27, but preferably like 25. I've kinda had every tuning between 26 and 40 and personally prefer 30-32. my current box ended up at about 35 and its a bit too high for my taste.
  9. yess you can i;ve done it before and so long as you can figure out how to wire them in parallel you're fine
  10. VV8's? i have VV8's. cerwin Vega Vega! 8's.
  11. L O L i was thinking the same thing
  12. http://www.caraudiocentre.co.uk/product_m-...ack_p-24229.htm tadaaaaaa 20 inches of jlaudio but for real, they made 18's for a while. i dont think they ever made a 20, or anyone made a 20, i've seen 18/21/22/24/32 but never a "20"
  13. there are a lot of shops out there that do work that comes out show quality and correct every time, even on a basic 300 dollar job with 10 guage. then again theres shops that will chargge thousands and make a battery rack that is basically 4 batteries tucked behind the middle row with sloppy scrap 0g with crimped on connectors and no fuses connecting them together go to shows, talk to people, and almost any shop that does good work will have a book or pictures of their past projects. you kinda just have to do some research before you trust your car and your money with a shop.
  14. never heard of an engine turning off from no backpressure, if that was the case all the ricerockets with fartcans would die and my old camry got destroyed by a speedbump and cracked the exhaust off at the header, and besides being obnoxiously loud and vibrating the whole car, it ran fine for the longest time.
  15. ive got 2 spare lvl4xl 18 d1's honestly have maybe 4 hours of real play on them, the box was in my car for 3 months, and it only got cranked like 4 times. the 3rd sub i'm keeping for myself and after another 20-30 hours of beating on it, the glue smell finally went away and it broke in. 700+shipping. check my buildlog if you want pics. they're the chrome logo ones.
  16. ubuntu for the win google and the connonical forums will answer any question you ever have. from new themes/skins to troubleshooting and as silly as it sounds, some of the stuff i like most on linux is compiz fusion(desktop effects, from multiple desktops to wiggly windows to animations), awn (aka avant windows navigator) and google gadgets (like the windows sidebar only free...and better). rythmbox is a great media player that supports ipod syncing (Although its manual...but you can edit tags and add album artwork and make playlists) mediatomb is a great upnp streamer (So you can play your media on a ps3 through a home network per se) google chrome is available for linux, and comes in a self installing .deb package even, imo its a better browser than firefox vlc (video lan player...idk where the comes from) will play any video under the sun, even 1080p 5.1ch surround sound .m2ts files arista transcoder can convert videos into ipod format (even youtube vids downloaded as flash with a bookmarklet) anything windows does, linux can do for free. everything from word docs to VPN clients for school i've gotten to work in linux, so dont be too afraid
  17. but its 1080i(which has been bypassed and therefore is just obsolete), and flawed(can burn in) i just got a 1080p 52inch for a grand brand new, 150 bux is 1/6th of a brand new bigger and better tv. and if you had to pay someone to do it, you'd probably be near half the cost of a current tv
  18. i was thinking the same thing and either its new enough to be under warrantee, or its old enough to be obsolete...so that should answer the repair question
  19. http://marketplaceadvisor.channeladvisor.c...amp;i=248516781 real men run zapco
  20. price doesnt determine output look at focal k-series. wussiest midbass ever and a 4 figure price tag. same thing with boston pro's, sound great but midbass is way weak.
  21. maybe theyre just not loud midbasses....every speaker is different...maybe you got some with sucky midbass?
  22. what freq is the hpf at? it should be like 80-100hz, the knob will have some numbers on it so just give it a guess as to where that is.whats the eq like? do the xovers have a+3db tweeter option or anything like that?
  23. you can run part of the port out of the box and it will work fine. you can also make it into a T style port, just make the part that uses the back of the box 1/2 the width of the main port, and a little V in the center to help direct air couldnt hurt(or even splitting it in half and making it into two L ports) and as far as tuning you're right on, about 20-21 inches of port will get you down to 34 hz, give or take a bit each way. i'm sure you can do the volume measurements for the internal and whatever port style youre going with, youre basically looking for 9.6 net internal, a port thats 120sq in by 21 long. make the depth whatever you need to compensate for where the port is going and whether the subs are inverted, but you're probably looking around 25 inches (give or take again)
  24. carid.com not like the whole plastic with mounting in most cases, but some actually are, and some are real wood and not just a printed sticker other than that check junkyards for the same car with a dif package, my boy just got the "silver square" package for his bmw for like 40 bux from a junkyard
  25. audi's with the suede package, its just like a suede insert but it like velcros your ass in, and its pretty damn comfy as well
